Wheel ?
My 08 A6 coupe has the polished aluminum wheels. My question is other than looks, what is the real difference in the wheels offered. The basic comp grey, the aluminum and the chrome all seem to serve the same purpose to me. Is there a big difference in weight or performance with the different wheels?
This same 5 spoke forged wheel is also available in chrome for $2000.00
The base wheel is a silver painted 10 spoke cast aluminum wheel. The same silver cast aluminum wheel is also available in "competition gray" for an additional $380.00
A FORGED wheel is traditionally lighter in weight than a cast aluminum wheel with far greater tensile strength and intergrity.

That about sums up the general thoughts on wheels. The painted wheels are a spun-cast wheel which is plenty strong but usually result in a slightly heavier wheel. The forged wheel is typically lighter and typically stronger than a cast wheel.
