Default Corvette Inventory Numbers

I thought it might be interesting to periodically take a look at total Corvette inventory numbers. These are all from jeffhardy.com, of course.

UPDATE for Tuesday, 5/6:
The dealers had a good week this week, reducing inventory by 395 '08s and 82 '07s. Congrats to all the new owners!

6416 total unsold 2008 Corvettes, -395 change since 4/28
3658 unsold 2008 Coupes, -249 change since 4/28
1484 unsold 2008 Convertibles, -86 change since 4/28
1274 unsold 2008 Z06s, -60 change since 4/28

529 total unsold 2007 Corvettes, -82 change since 4/28
102 unsold 2007 Coupes, -19 change since 4/28
391 unsold 2007 Convertibles, -59 change since 4/28
36 unsold 2007 Z06s, -4 change since 4/28

19 total unsold 2006 Corvettes, 0 change since 4/28
1 unsold 2006 Coupes, 0 change since 4/28
18 unsold 2006 Convertibles, 0 change since 4/28

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As of Monday morning, 4/28/8:

19 unsold 2006 Corvettes
1 Coupe
18 Convertibles

611 unsold 2007 Corvettes
121 Coupes
450 Convertibles
40 Z06s (including one Lemans Blue )

6811 unsold 2008 Corvettes
3907 Coupes
1570 Convertibles
1334 Z06s

Unless the mods or Jeff Hardy object, I will try and update these weekly so we can see trends over time.

Truly a sad state of affairs. Corvettes were never ever left in inventory this late into the the model year. And current owners wonder why their cars aren't worth spit one year down the road.

Thanks for sharing...I think. Truth is in the numbers, and yet, certain dealers still have the cojones to ask over MSRP.

It's hard to believe that dealers still have 2006's sitting around. I bet they are still asking list price, or close to it for them.

There are actually more 08s showing on the inventory site than when the $1,000 rebate began. They might need 2-3K to move an apprecialble # of instock units.

It's hard to believe there are 06's still out there. New. Boy I bet they will have battery issues. The 07's are kind of hard to believe this late in the year too, but I bet other car makes are far worse in any given "next year". How many Camrys sit on lots world wide from 06'-07', just given the volume of sales.

As long as every vette is pre sold to dealers GM won't back off over supplying them. I'd like GM to cut back production and let demand catch up. Dealers are afraid of losing allocations for the next year so they keep buying them, hoping for huge discounts and incentives to move them. When all else fails I'm guessing production will only then have to be cut back on these cars..........

No way I would buy an 06 or even an 07 that has been sitting outside in the weather this long. I won't even leave my car outside not one night.

This is about the exact situation (and number) from last year when the '08's were intro'd. It's about a 2 month supply of inventory which is not horrible in the car business. The sky is not falling...The factory needs to keep producing though whether they sell at retail or not...

The numbers really don't mean much without a year over year comparison to see if there is a significant change....

Default Another Price Increase Coming

Sounds like the GM marketing brainpower will be coming up with another Corvette price increase soon to make sure that they have plenty of old product in inventory.

Found a post with an inventory count from a year ago:

On May 2, 2007 there were 438 unsold 2006 C6's and 6237 2007 C6's on dealer lots for a total of 6675 cars.

Today's total is 7441 cars, an increase of 766 cars or 11.5% over last year.

You would really, really have to get a super deal to take an '06 or '07 knowing how many improvements were made on the '08's. Especially since there are great deals on the '08's.

Add in the 2005's and Z06's that were in inventory then and it's probably close to a wash...

About a month ago, I inquired about a 2007 Machine Silver vert -- loaded with MSRP of $66,000+. Car had been driven by dealership's general manager during the summer of 2007. Car has about 2,900 miles but still looks new -- no scratches or chips; seats/bolsters not creased or otherwise worn.

I was told car was eligible for 0%/60-month financing, but here's the kicker: Could buy the car for $52,000+ but if I wanted the 0% financing, the price would be $4,000 more.

I ran away, laughing ....

You won't get much of a deal on an 06 or 07 because the dealer has to cover his costs. The price increase of an 08 is not that significant that you would want an 06 or 07.

Probably the real killer is the horsepower increase.

If the Z06 was offered in a auto they would have 0 left instead of 40 $80,000 MSRP cars. Sad, real sad. It is an awful shame GM to this date does not listen to the consumer. Maybe next year they can shoot for 10,000 Vette's unsold in late April. Since they have little interest in selling them why not go for a new record?

I almost bought the coupe in Astoria, Oregon back in December '06. They offered me supplier price back then but I bought a used '05.
