I just had my Nav system replaced under warranty from my dealer.
I just burned a new Mp3 CD. It shows the name of the song and track, but it plays the incorrect track, one that doesnt match the song selected.
For example. If im playing Guns N Roses, it shows Guns and Roses as playing, but plays another Song from my MP3 CD.
Another Weird problem, it repeats the track over and over and over again. But shows it went to the next song. I dont know if this is making sense, but its driving me nuts!! any ideas?
I never had this problem until they replaced the NAV.. Is it a differnt sofrware version or a glitch??
If I recall correctly, others here have had similar problems. I'm sorry, but I don't recall the specifics of the cure; what I do remember is that the problem was caused by 1 or more incorrect settings while burning the disc. If I'm not mistaken, Jim Schindler has quite a bit of experience with this and may be able to help you. If not, hang in there as I'm confident that someone here will chime in with the answers you're looking for.
hey, you need to burn your mp3's using iso 9660 and 8.3 filename size. i use nero burning rom. you will see these choices on the iso tab during set up of your disc. i really had to hunt and use the forum to figure this out. thanks to hokieZ on the forum for helping me. cranky p.s. the replacement nav systems they are using are just like the 2008 corvettes. our previous ones would work with data type discs. the new ones will not.............
Im still having the same problem. I attached a pic of the settings im using, are they correct? I also tried ISO as ASCII. The Nav system reads the disc, but it doesnt play the proper song when its selected!
Say I select Greenday, it shows its playing Greenday, but its actually playing bon jovi out of the speakers. I played the disc in my other car and it worked fine.... Is this the same problem you were having? I attached a pic of the settings I used in nero.....

The following (2) guidelines may help:
ID3 tag information is displayed by the radio if
it is available. The radio supports ID3 tag
information v1.0 or v1.1. The radio will display
a file-name, song name, artist name, album
name, and directory name.
Maximum 29 characters, including spaces, in
a file or folder name. (Note: 25 characters
in the song title + 4 characters in the file extension - .MP3.
Also eliminate any non-standard characters
[e.g., tildes(~) and accents]).

I hear ya.. Its just that they replaced this NAV system and ever since they put the new one in I have this problem... My old NAV unit played the CD's fine until the unit crapped out!! Some ppl are telling me the 2008 NAV's handle mp3 units differently though.. So im not sure..

I don't have this issue with my 07 NAV MP3. My settings are a little different than yours.
1. File system = ISO 9660 (ONLY)
2. Relax Restrictions = NONE CHECKED.
Keep the other settings the same. Also make sure you have "No multisession" and "Disk at once enabled". Make one MP3 CD this way and see if it works.
If you still have an issue, make sure you have ID3 V1 (not V2) tags in your MP3's as the titles come from the ID3 tag. There are free programs for tagging MP3 files. Check www.download.com. If your MP3 files only have V2 tags, other players may display the correctly, but the Vette won't.
Yup, I have the same issue where it will play a song 2-3 times, over-writing the songs that should have been there.
I guess the key is to:
-Use the right ID tag
-Make sure the file doesn't have a variable bitrate
-keep the number of tracks/files to 13? in each folder
-limit the file name to 25 characters + 4 for the .mp3 extension

Yep, that's pretty much the proper rules no matter what the manual says. More than 27+4 in the file name will always give a situation where the long named file doesn't play and the one after it is selected. If that one is also long you get the next one played three times instead of twice. 26 or 27 +4 will sometimes work and sometimes not. In at least a hundred tests I never figured out what the rule was for those. 25+4 works every time.
If you use anything other than version 1.0 or 1.1 ID3 tags nothing will display when it is playing.
Using VBR will give tracks that might seem to play OK but they will always cut off early. Sometimes it is in the silence at the end but other times it can be in the middle of the song. You will also have trouble fast forward or reversing.
The allowed number of tracks per folder is more than 13 but the more you have the slower it will switch between tracks and folders. 13 isn't a bad rule of thumb though I will go more than that if it makes sense and I'm willing to put up with the delays.
One problem I've seen people have that they can't understand what is going on is they are using a burning program such as ITunes that displays tracks from the ID3 tags rather than the real filename. The file name and tags are 2 different things, are each displayed in different places on this unit, and cause different problems when not correct.

Reason: typoo
I burned 6 CD's of MP3 files and when played I see no title/group informatiom. I used Nero Express. I also have the Navigation Radio in my 2008. The player is GM from GM Parts House. Am I missing something?
