hello all my 2008 6 speed whines and increases as i go faster then decreases as i slow down. it is coming from the rear. any ideas>? iam bringing it to the dealership on monday. thanks
I have some experience with the same problem. Took my car in to the dealer, they couldn't diagnose it, so they scheduled a GM engineer to drive it. The engineer said that the tranny had a spun bearing and needed rebuilding. They ordered the parts and I dropped the car back off for the rebuild. 10 days later I called to ask about the car and was told that the tranny was fine (no rebuild) but my torque tube was bent so they ordered that. A week later, i call and am told that the clutch is leaking fluid, parts on order. Another 10 days go by, I call and am told the car is fixed. I go to pick it up and don't get 10 feet out of the lot before I hear the whine, same as before. Go back in, yell at the service manager etc etc. 2 weeks later I am told the car is fixed (they replaced the gears, rear end) so I go back to get it. Well, it was less whine than before, but I could still hear it and told them so. Service manager wouldn't work on it anymore withour GM approval, I filed a lemon lawsuit, ...bottom line, GM paid me 7K (lawyer got another 2K) to live with the "normal drivetrain noise" as they called it.
So here I am 7K richer, but yeah I can still hear the whine if I listen for it. On the plus side I can use that money to offset the pain of trading my car in for a new one if I find that I cannot stand the whine anymore. On the negative side, the car was at the dealer for 50 consecutive days (Oct - late Dec of 07) and I missed out on a lot of driving.
Anyhow, good luck with yours!
I have a 06 c6 a6 and the rear end has a wavering hum noise to it. The dealer keeps blaming the tires for it, it has been in twice. With less than 10k miles left on the rear tires and when they are replaced, I will test drive it and determine if I need to return it to the dealer with BRAND NEW TIRES, let's see what his excuse is NOW!

Except mine comes from the right seat when my wife is in the car.
Trans differential fluid I'd bet. Your dealer will sort it out on Monday.
Do you mean trans fluid and diff fluid? The Vette has both. The diff has already been changed since the gears were done but the trans may have not been done yet.
