Default Missing correct oil drain plug?

I did my first oil change over the weekend, and when I removed the pan plug, I was expecting to see some metal, etc. like all the pictures I have seen here. Mine was perfectly clean. That must mean that they did a better job of building my engine that the rest of all of ya'll. Then I decided to test it for animal magnetism and it failed.

Did I get cheated or have they stopped using magnetic oil pan plugs on the 2008's ?

They stopped sometime in January.

Mine was built in October and has the magnetic drain plug. My first oil change at 894 miles had hardly anything on it and yes, I did test it to make sure it was magnetic.

When a piston drops out it will pick it right up and save your engine.

Exactly, the last thing you want is to have a piston get sucked back up into the oil pump and shot out through a rocker arm oil hole!
