Default 08 base wheel questions.

I've got an order in for an 08 atomic orange coupe. (should be about 4 more weeks to get it)
What do you think about how the base wheels will look with that?
I do like the split spoke design over the not split.

Has anyone removed the silver paint and polished them?

What about sending them out for chroming? Has anyone done that?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Roger

There are aftermarket companies that will chrome them for you on exchange....check westcoastcorvette.com or Factoryreproductions.com...I am sure they have them by now.

The 07 pace car is the same color and has the same wheels. Some like it, some don't.

I've seen the same split wheels in chrome and wasn't really fond of it. I always wondered why GM didn't offer those rims in chrome.

I have an AO C6 with the base split spoke. None of the Corvette wheels are that good and get aftermarket wheels.

I have an '08 vr coupe with competition gray wheels. Looks great. Best part is that they do not show any brake dust. In fact, brake dust is the same color as the wheels. No more back breaking cleaning of those damned chrome wheels every week, and they always look as new. makes me happy!

Well, your combo is what I am getting and yours looks nice in your pic.
Are you totally happy with the look or have you considered getting some aftermarket wheels?

I think they will look fine wait until you get the car and then decide if you want something else there are plenty of alternatives on the market.

altho it is not AS bling, or blinding as chrome or high-polished, I had the painted split spokes on my car for quite awhile. to me, they looked good.

if you want to do the chroming of your wheels without an intermediary (direct to platers), reach me by email.

this isn't so bad, is it?

Once the runflats are used up, I am looking at CCW SP500's as the replacement. These are $2,600 and not much more than what GM wants for the upgraded wheels. After having the silver split spokes, they are growing on me and they are easy to clean.

The standard painted silver split spokes look great! Especially on AO, VR, JSB, and Black. Not so much on AW, VY, or MS.

I've got an 08 VR vert and I liked the base wheels the best. You can get the wheel exchange from californiachrome.com or through the other suppliers noted. I have watched the threads on the various after market wheels and I would be careful.

No. It's not only not so bad, the look is really beginning to grow on me already.
Can't wait to get the car.

Thanks all!

I put the Chrome split spoke wheels on my car and sold the silver ones. The Chrome really sets the car off. I think the silver wheels look weak in comparison.
