Low Fuel Warning

I only use Chevron supreme in my C5 & C6 as they have techroline.
Last year I drove my C5 to a Wedding about 25 miles from home and planned to fill up with Chevron on the way to the Wedding. However we didn't get underway until too late to get gas so I drove to the wedding and after the wedding I decided to get some gas before heading back home. There was no Chevron available in the small town we were in so I decided to put some Shell premium gasoline in the C5. I only put about $10.00 worth in the car and drove back towards home and filled up with Chevron when I got back near home. When I pulled in my garage I noticed that the gas guage only showed 1/2 tank. After I shut the car off and restarted it, the guage very slowly moved on up to the full mark. After the Chevron cleaned up whatever the Shell had done I have had no other problems. No more Shell for my Vettes!!! Only Chevron!

Correspondingly, the "RANGE LOW" message is what is displayed when you select the fuel range feature (in the little gas pump menu). I have never seen a "LOW RANGE" message.
You probably had the DIC in range mode, so it displayed the range in miles, then displayed the unsolicited "LOW FUEL" warning (with chime), and you went back to the range display which had switched to "RANGE LOW." It's all the same thing; it happens around the 2-gallons-left point.
On my car, the top edge of the gauge needle can be flush with the bottom edge of the bottommost line and the fill-up will be a little under 17 gallons (approximately 1 gallon left), for what it's worth.
However, your mileage may vary.
