You might want to consult your owners manual, but I did mine about a month after I got it. I wanted to get some protection on the paint.

30 days from the time the vehicle was painted. The vehicle panels were likely painted about 1 to 2 weeks prior to the final build date of the car. If you took museum delivery you should wait a week or two after delivery as the car will sit for 2 weeks mandatory quality hold before it is transferred to the museum. If you bought it from dealer stock it is likely fine to be waxed or polished right away.

The panels are painted and baked to a partial cure at the factory. The panels are approximately 85% cured when they leave the factory. The panels will complete the curing and cross-linking process with exposure to UV rays, heat and the elements.

The only problem that could arise from premature waxing is potential to put small scratches in the surface of the clear coat.

Before the question is asked, you won't find this in the manual as most cars will be fully cured before the owners ever get them. The timing is so close that it almost doesn't need to be mentioned. Of the approximately 40,000 cars that are assembled each year only about 1,000 of them are museum delivery cars and probably another 500 or so are delivered to dealers close enough to the assembly plant for it even to come in to play.

Not much to add to this detailed and informative response.

I bought my car 2 months after the build date. I was told when I bought it that the dealership detail guys waxed it one time. Not sure when. I just applied the Turtlewax Ice yesterday. It went on easy enough, acutally too easy. I was going to buy the Zaino (sp?) but after reading all of the post, not to mention the information on the Zaino website, I got totally confused on what to buy and when to use it. So, I'll keep reading and maybe apply that next time. The Ice liquid polish and the instant detailer with the applicator and a micro-fiber towel was $19.00 at Costco. It looks great... but what do I know, I'm a new Vette owner too.

And if/when you do decide to try Zaino (or anything else) give the car a good wash with the Dawn blue liquid dishwashing soap to take off all the previously applied wax. Then you will have a fresh surface to start with.

Thanks...the car washing with Dawn is the only part I understood. Then the Zaino site used all of these secret codes and descriptions for their products... I see they have a "kit" that should contain everything I need.. I couldn't even understand that.

I sure wish the goodies I ordered will arrive... I need something to do with the car.

Just the facts man!

First wash car with Z-7 car wash soap.
1. Use clay bar if you wish, but it is not required.
2. Apply a coat of Z-5.
3. Apply a coat of Z-6.
4. Apply a coat of Z-2.
5. Apply a coat of Z-6.
6. Repeat above. No need to use Z5 again if you have no scratches or swirls. Always be sure to end with an applications of Z-6.

I just did the above application and repeated 3 times. Use Z-16 on the tires. You can add their ZFX Accelarator to the Z-2 & Z-5 polish to make it dry faster. Took me 2 days to perform the 3 applications. If you have chrome wheels, use the Z-2 on those.

My thoughts too. Instead I used the McGuires NXT with a microfiber towel to buff. Looks like a mirror to me-dont see how you can get $80 MORE worth from using Zaino- the McGuires was Less than $20 with a MF towel.........
To each his own on WHAT to use, but waiting 2 weeks after you get her home should be a safe month after painting..........which is what I did

Just for you info - the prep folks at the Museum use C-Magic wax and detailer. I picked up my black vert at the NCM and it looked outstanding.

Actually, they don't. They use C-Magic quick detail spray. This is the equivalent of Meguiars quick detailer or Zaino Z6. They do not use any wax, nor polish.

Thanks to Swiftrider08 for the translation. That will help. I do like the results I see in the pictures posted after the Zaino application. Having a new car, I want to keep it looking it that way.
