Congrats on your new Corvette! Now when you go to buy something for the car and have to pay the "Corvette tax", just remember you got the car for free and pay up.
Enjoy! Since you only have to pay the taxes, that leaves plenty for upgrades!
The tax bite will be from two places-one you can't do much about, your state sales and/or income tax, the second about which you can do something- federal income tax. Find a tax adviser who has dealt with this kind of situation before, not to dodge taxes, but to be sure you pay only what the law requires. That aside, welcome and congratulations. The car will be even more fun than you imagined.
The taxes are a bitch. I won a $45,000.00 boat. It cost $13,000.00 in state and federal taxes. They take the cost of the item and add it to you income for the year. Still a lot cheaper than having to buy. Good Luck.
Yeah, taxes are gonna be about $8000, but I'm not complaining. I will definitely find a tax guy that can make sure I only pay what I absolutely have to... and pictures will be coming this weekend!! I have to find a place to wash it first. I think I've used up all my luck for the rest of my life....
OK, I have been reading the posts on this forum for a couple weeks now, and I am so impressed with the help and advice you guys and gals give. I'm not sure what I expected, but it is really cool to "listen" in on all these conversations. Now it's time to stick my head out and tell my story....
I have been going to the local Chevy dealer every few months for about 3 years just looking and sitting in the Vettes. While I could afford one, I just hesitated to spend the money - it seemed....selfish, I guess. Then a few weeks ago, I went to a conference for work, entered a free drawing with 7000 other folks, and ended up winning a brand new black C6 coupe!!! I freaked out, and it has taken me almost 3 weeks to really believe that it's real. Of course, income tax time will be painful, but who cares. I won a freakin' Vette! No one at work understands what a dream this is for me so I just wanted to tell some people who know how incredibly cool this is. Thanks for listening......
Congrats....and you have the fasted colour (...lol).
