Let me offer you this. You can go on a ride along with one of my dept's officer's...they will make a traffic stop at 2 AM in a dark alley, and BONUS....you get to be the first one up to the driver's window...you of course will not be able to see in to the car at all, and the driver's hands and what they may have in them will not be visible to you either........feelin lucky???
You are the one who chose to break the tint law....at least for me, don't come whining and crying on this forum and complaining about the police officer...I'd rather write tint violations than no front plate ....
Challenge it. No way he can tell a 3% difference between legal and not, waste his time like he is wasting your money. Maybe he won't pull the next guy over for something stupid if it might be a hassle for him.

With respect, apparently he could. The tint, according to the OP, measured 17%....
Well, I got a frickin ticket for my window tint. In Naples the law says it has to be 20% visible light and mine measured 17. That's the only reason he stopped me for. I can't believe they can't find better things to do with their time. Jealous sonofa*****.
I suggest you don't come to or drive through Georgia if you exceed 32% light transmission. You will get cited. Regarding dark tint, personally I like the ability to see the other driver's face to see if he is noticing my car or motorcycle coming towards him/her.
....Georgia's window tinting law was struck down as unconstitutional last year because the provisions applied only to vehicles registered in Georgia. "House Bill 20 corrected the language so the law applies to all vehicles, whether registered in Georgia or another state," Colonel Hitchens said. "The window tint law is a safety issue, not only for law enforcement officers as they approach a vehicle during a traffic stop, but also for drivers so they can better see approaching vehicles while they drive."
The law allows for the same light transmission standards as the previous law. It is now illegal for window tinting material to be applied to the rear, side and door windows of motor vehicles that does not allow for more than 32 percent of light transmission (plus or minus three percent).........

However, I don't agree with you totally because I think the cop did the right thing. What I agree with you is that in Georgia, for instance, you are allowed a +/- 3% leeway and that is because the determination of % of light transmission is subjective.

O.k. so you knowingly broke the law, got caught and now it is somehow the cops fault. Oh, I see.
Last week I was driving my 92 which has tinted windows. As I pulled into the driveway of where I work a cop flashes his lights on me. He said he pulled me over because my side windows was tinted ( I thought he was gonna say something about no front plate.) I gave him my licenses and everything checked out. He then said the real reason he pulled me over is he wanted to know why I was in that parking lot at 5 in the morning. I said "I work here". He said "OH", handed my license back to me and said have a nice day.

Unfortunately, a few BAD "apples" ruin it for the rest of us! It's amazing what today's cops are up against...just another way for them to try to stay safe! To the OP, I'm sorry about your ticket, but just read this post and try to feel what today's cops have to face! Many of them put their lives on the line every day. Just get a lighter tint. Good Luck!
ive gotten pulled over with my old car and the meter said 17%, but the reciepts i had said 35%. he let me go..
i dont really agree with the georgia law saying any car in there state cannot violate a set tint %, my car is titled and reg in SC and the law here says 27% all windows,
i think GA is crooked as hell anyways,, i remember watching a 60 min special, cops would pull over brand new caddies for speeding, but they wern't, and the cars would get impounded, the tow truck place would strip the car and they would give the cops kickbacks..
busted!!!!
p.s. im in florida now on vacation in cape coral, i think the laws here are 35 front and sides, and 20 for the rear. oh yeah,, any car club meetings? or shows going on this weekend?

Enough already with the cop bashing!!! If you break the law and get a ticket, live with it. Stop crying. BTW, cops have vettes too.

I showed him my receipt. It said 30%. It made no difference to him.

Not nice, are you going to talk crap about Florida when you get back to your town?
