Default How hard is it to install headers on a C6?

Is it hard like the old F-body Camaro's and Firebirds or is there a bit of room to get everything out and in easily?

Cool thanks! 5 hour install is not bad at all and it sounds like they can be done on the race ramps. Going to get mine on order

Easiest Header install I've ever done! Much, much easier than my 01 Camaro.

I have installed both Kooks as well as American Racing. Both can be installed from start to finish in under 2 hours. This includes removing the complete factory exhaust. It will take longer if you do not have a lift. Playing floor ninja will add another 40 min or so. Hope this helps out.

Not too long at all, I installed Kooks 1 3/4's with the catted X-Pipe mostly by myself with the front end on Rhino ramps and the rear on stands in about 5 - 6 hours. The hardest part is getting the car in the air, while I was under there I replaced the wimpy tunnel plate with a 3/8 one from LAPD. I would have finished the job sooner but I thought the Flowmasters that were on it when I bought the car were welded to the H-pipe; I ended up cutting the H-pipe with a sawzall - not very much fun only to have it slide out...

I went with LG Pro Long Tubes with high flow cats. Great quality and I picked up 26 rwhp & 39 rwtq without a tune.

I installed my Kooks, and it was my first experience installing headers. I am here to tell you that it was not hard at all. I will also tell you that it took way longer than 2-3 hours. It takes me that long just to get the car lifted, and the beer and music going. I am in no rush with those type of projects, so I do it in phases over a couple or three days.

Nothing really difficult, but I did do my research first. Only mistake was trying to unbolt the stock cats from the stock exhaust manifolds and snapping the bolts. This is common I later found out.

Enjoy the install. Have a beer and listen to old rock. It doesn't get any better than that!

My neighbor told me to soak down the bolts with a can of pb blaster; it stinks and smokes alot if the car is hot, but I had no trouble unbolting the cats from the exhaust manifolds.

Another thing he told me to do was to empty a couple of cans of brake clean on the new headers before firing up the car; he said the oils from our hands will burn into the headers pretty much permantly.

Spray the h-pipe/cat flange bolts & O2 sensors with WD40 the night before.... drink beer. Net morning, unbolt the flanges, have an 8 inch stand under the body,to hold the midpipe when if falls. Replace with ARH headers, fit absolutely like GM inatLLED THEM

I used American Racing Headers they fit up under the car well "don't hang down" I have heard the KOOK's also fit well. Some of the cheaper brands hang down and hit speed bumps so spend the extra and get good quality. Also I would highly recommend putting the tunnel heat shield on. I used the one below because I didn't want to spend the money on the thick replacement plate also.

Forgot to add. Use stock GM head to header gaskets, also clean treads and reuse stock manifold to head bolts. This should resolve the headers bolts constantly coming loose.

Probably not. He traded the Vette for a SRT Jeep SUV about 2 months after the first post on this thread.
