I was talking to a guy I know very well in the states, and he tells me he's seen pics of the clay model of the C6. He's in a position where this is VERY believable.
Unfortunately, he's not a Corvette guy, and he didn't get much in the way of details. His words: Not markedly different looking than the the one you(me) have. It's a bit shorter though.
I know it's not much information, but it seems to verify what we have all heard from other sources.
Lutz: "The idea is to get the weight down and the horsepower up, and I'm not at liberty to discuss either. But the emphasis will be less on design than on what's inside. The car will be newer than it looks and retain design cues from the current car , but the real work has been done under the skin."
Hmmm, with the ATI SC now available for only $5500, I think its a no brainer to install the 535 hp SC on a C5 - it will still be so much quicker than a C6 even if the C6 is 200 lbs lighter and 50 more hp.
A C6 for me won't be at least until 2005 anyway. I usually skip the first year for 2 reasons - bugs and they usually never have a vert the 1st year anyway. Then if I really want the C6, I could right back to stock if I needed to and sell the SC for $3500, or try and get a good price without uninstalling the SC. Thats not bad at all.
I should point out that the meaning I got from that is you could not visually tell it was shorter. The verbal presentation mentioned it was slightly shorter.
If it wasn't visually shorter, it probably won't be an issue when it is released, I hope.
He didn't happen to mention anything about fixed headlights did he?...I wonder if these are the same clay models that were in the spy pictures already released?...There is a picture of them on the corvetteforum.com website...
I have heard "shorter" mentioned somewhere as well, but this was in conjuction with, "but the wheelbase is actually longer/wider." Pushing the wheels out and making the car shorter would increase handling, correct? Just random thoughts from someone not "in the know".

Unfortunately, you have everything I got. I haven't seen the photos you're talking about, but this was recent, and it was a GM presentation. :)
BLKZ06--Yeah, it's kinda frustrating isn't it?? :) We're all just dying to see what the next big toy is going to look and perform like...Anyways, I made a little mistake in my post, the spy picture can be found on the C6-Vette website...Just look under the C6 Spy Shots section and it's the top pic...A kind of strange photo of four Vettes, clay prototypes I believe but not sure...
Reeves--Sure thing!...I actually had it listed but for some reason when I'd post it, it was being changed back to the corvetteforum url???...But it is simply vette C6.com without the space between vette and C6...Hope that works for ya!
