NO KEY. went to a local dealer. SOB charged me $85.00 for a typical key, no puter key, a lousey walmart key!! No wonder thay call them stealerships
WOW, $85 seems steep for a key with no chip inside.
Yes, the dealer can get you a new key cut off the VIN number. I would go into the parts department of your local dealer - scratch that - I would call a couple dealers and ask for their parts department to ask about getting a new key (and the price). My guess is that they will want you to come down with your ID and registration (showing you own the car) and then they can cut you a new key.
BTW, Congrats on the "new to you" Vette!!!! I am sure you will have a lot of good times ahead with it.
I bought a new key and fob at the dealer Tax and all $100.Since I bought the Vette there they had my Vin # in the system and all I had to do was show them my License. If I hadn't bought it from them they said I would have to show proof of ownership. If you just bought the car I would see if the sales manager can get you a break on the key ,it's worth a try .
