I have a seemingly obvious question - if I would get out of the car while it is running, like to leave it with a valet, and leave the fob in my pocket when I left, would the car keep running or would it shut off because the fob is no longer present?
I would think that would be a good security feature in case of a carjacking or something - that the car shuts down if the fob is no longer present.
Did you really think GM would put a car on the market whose engine would die if the battery in your fob died while you were driving 50-60 mph down the road?

Valets will sometimes need to move your car to let other cars out of the parking lot due to limited space. It just might be better to leave the FOB with them. If your really concerned about miles, check your tires and leave the Odometer reading on the DIC and remember what was the current mileage.
As for the FOB no longer being present near your C6, the car will not shut off after X amount of time. When you turn off your car with no FOB present, the DIC will ask if you want to turn off the car or not. Just press the stop button again to turn off the engine.
The car is left running, you leave with the FOB in your pocket, the valet goes to move it, as soon as he hits the brake to put the car in gear wont the car shut down? the car does not detect the FOB, great security feature.

No, the car will not shut down as soon as he hits the brakes to put the car in gear. It will not shut down until he pushes the bottom of the start button and starts the sequence of events posted below.
NO FOB - OFF OR RUN?: When this message
displays, it means that the keyless access transmitter is
not detected inside the vehicle while you are trying to
turn the ignition off. Your vehicle may be near a
strong radio antenna signal causing the keyless access
system to be jammed. The vehicle will remain in
ACCESSORY until OFF or START has been pressed or
five minutes has expired. If you turn the ignition off
and you cannot find the keyless access transmitter, you
will not be able to restart the vehicle.
