I've been waiting for a friend of a friend (u know the deal) to get in touch with me about installing a lift. After waiting for almost 2 months for this guy to surface, today I sit down with all my lift information (much of it gathered here on the forum, thanks guys) to make my decision. And since not hearing anything from him up to this point, I was interested in a two post. After reading over everything I have collected I decided on a four post bendpak 9,000 lb. as much of this lift will be used for storing with occasional work, and I plan to call within the the next two days to order it. That's the master plan, and I put all information aside for the day.
One hour later he calls me. Go figure. Anyway, he says he has a two post Challenger available (used) either 9 or 10,000 lbs. After reading through all the posts here I really don't recall this brand name. Anyone have one of these or know of the company? Is it a reputable lift.
Yes, I have a Challenger lift. We use it mostly to service our business pickup trucks. It has been problem free for 3 years now. I know that it was not the least expensive when I bought it but it does the job.
I believe you must have thicker concrete under a 2 post lift. Make sure you check the minimum depth of concrete needed before buying. I believe a 4 post lift only needs a minimum of 4" of concrete which I think is code pretty much everywhere. I know when a buddy was looking he couldn't get a 2 post lift because his slab was not thick enough.
