I'm paying one of Gene CR consoles and I am looking for instructions how to do that. There are alot for older C6s, but I did not find any for an 2008 when I seached, and they are differant. Point me in the right directionc and I will be very thankful so I don't screw this up.
They are not actually that different to remove. Remember, you can install a 2008 console into an older car so they can't be that different by definition. If you can find one for the 2005-2007 cars then you are most of the way there. The 2008 car has the two bolts in the console under two plugs vs. having the tombstone that was present in the earlier cars. The rest of the swap as far as removing the ebrake boot assembly is the same.
The major difference between the two is going to be getting the shift **** off. The shift **** on the 2008 C6 is twisting off the chrome trim ring which will then drop down and expose the set screw that holds the **** on the shaft. After that the removal is very similar to the older years.
This has a series of pictures that you should find helpful. I should receive my 2008 console from Gene this week and I'm looking forward to the install.
