Remove A6 shift **** for console switch
You guys really helped out with my last question so I'm hoping the is true with this one. I have a 2008 couple with auto trans. I'm going to replace the console. My question is do I have to remove the shift **** in order to do that?

I have done it both ways. I think it's easier to do it taking the **** off, but then again I have taken my shift **** off about ten times and can do it in about 5 seconds. 
It can be done without taking it off.

Really easy. Twist bottom of shift **** (under boot) from 12 oclock to 1 oclock position. Pry up cap cover and remove, remove shift button. Pull straight up on ****. All there is to it.
