Default Factory CAT-BACK question

I noticed on the Kerbeck website that a factory assessory option was cat back exhausts. Is this something in addition to the dual mode (NPP)exhause option?

Thanks

What are cat back exhausts? How do they work compared to the standard exhaust systems? andy

There's two type of bolt-on systems. An over-axle (standard) system bolts on the rear of the stock H-pipe near the front of the tranny. A cat-back system is similar, but includes an X-pipe to replace the stock H-pipe and bolts on just behind the cats.

From Genes site www.gmpartshouse.com

Genuine GM Performance Parts Exhausts

19172324 – Performance cat-back exhaust system – 1250.00
19172326 – Off road cat-back exhaust system – 1250.00

Shipping is $55.00. Please call for availability and/or to order.

Both exhausts come with welded on, round, angle cut tips (as shown in pic)
The tips cannot can be changed out as in the previous GM exhausts.

These exhausts are for LS2 or LS3 powered Corvettes!

The performance exhaust is normally a less aggressive sounding and the off-road is normally a bit more louder/throaty.

The Cat-Back Exhaust accessory you saw is not a factory option. It is a performance exhaust package that is marketed by Genuine Corvette Accessories (GCA) and sold through Chevrolet dealers. It is basically an aftermarket exhaust. There are two options that I recall a "off-road" and a "touring". If I remember correctly these are manufactured by Borla and marketed through GCA. These exhaust packages are manufactured to bolt up the the factory exhaust behind the catalytic converter hence the name (cat back) as it replaces the factory exhaust components from the cat, back. They do not come with an x-pipe, nor do they require one. There is an optional x-pipe available through GCA as well.

If you have the NPP exhaust this will replace the NPP and delete the bi-mode valves and the RPM open feature.

Default Does this performance catback

come with the dual mode exhaust. I see a vaccum port on each exhaust outlet. The factory exhaust only has two of the 4 exhaust tubes with vaccum ports, right?

SO i guess the performance catback has a little deeper sound when the valves are closed, than the factory NPP

No. It does not come with a dual mode. Those are not vacuum ports those are mounting pins. There is no vacuum operation nor butterfly valves on the performance exhaust. It is a conventional exhaust that will work on all LS2/LS3 cars.

Default I understand

now. Its just another after market option the dealer can install for someone. Would you say this exhaust is the least "milder" of all the
other exhaust options available.

Is there a sound video available I could hear?

I haven't read/heard of many folks getting this option, especially since there are so many better aftermarket alternatives...not to mention how popular the NPP option has become. But with that said...everytime I see these, I can't help but comment on how cool the C6 flags are on the tips!
