OK I just purchased a Borla Stinger exhaust system last week and it finally arrived yesterday. Well today when I got home I opened it up and this is what I found. Its still in the box and I need to know if this is normal. Please comment ASAP since I was planning the installation for tomorrow.
Notice all the rust along the welds as well as welds that look like a blind guy did them. Please look at www.borla.com and notice how nice and smooth the one in the brochure looks then look at my photos.
Thanks Guys for any and all responses. Let me know if Im being knit pickey here. Lot of oney to spend on something less than what I expected.
I could be totally wrong here. But with welding, there is tremendous heat involved and thats the rusting color you are seeing.Just heat that was supplied to lay the bead.
That makes sence but the ones in the brochures do not look like this so now Im at a loss and do not know what to do. I just thought that the ones on the brochure would be what I was getting.

You will most definitely see some rust-like coloring on your exhaust. The pictures Borla puts up are probalby polished up after welding.
The only exhaust i've seen that was all shiney even after being on the car for a while was anything from Billy Boat.
I don't think you're being nitpicky, after all, you did just pay a premium for an exhaust for your pride and joy. Send it back if it makes YOU happy.

So does anyone think that if I took some mothers and a pad and polished the H3LL out of the pipe would that illiminate some rust as well as make it shine a little more????
OK Thank you to you all, you have seriously eased my mind. I do greatly appriciate all the post to bring to the conclusion that everything will be fine. I was truely about to blow a gasket if you all said the pipes looked like crap and I got the no lube treatment. I guess Ill keep the plans to install tomorrow. Ill post more pics when I am completed.
