Default Would I Notice Difference In Performance?

Thinking about moving up from my '02 vert to an '07 vert.

I believe there is a 50 horse power diference between the 2 cars. The current '02 has the 2.73 highway gears the '07 will have the 3.23 gears.

Should the performance difference in 2 cars be very noticeable? Also, what could I expect to give up on gas mileage?

Thanks for your commesnts.

Can't speak of the performance difference as I've never driven an '02 but I imagine the extra 50hp plus the 3.23 vs 2.73 differential should be a noticeable change. As for mileage, I doubt you'll be giving up anything! With either the 6spd auto or the 6 spd manual, you should see a gain in mileage. Sound like a smart move!

Not sure about 3.23 gears, I went from an '03 to an '07 (2.56 gears) and noticed a significant difference.

That extra horsepower makes a big difference in cars of this weight range. I went from a '99 C5 to an 05' C6 and I was truly impressed. The gas mileage in my '99 stayed around 30-32 on the highway where as the '05 stays below the 30 mark (26 to 28).

My previous 99 C5 and my current 06 C6 are like night and day. I have to keep looking at the Corvette logo to remind myself they are the vehicle. Unless you've heavily modded your C5, you'll notice the difference in power as soon as you put your foot in it. And I've gotten 30mpg in the C6...I never even came close to that in the C5...when I was able to get the gas needle to work, that is!

You'll notice a significant difference in performance and a slight drop in MPG.....Its odd though how some of the people who have made the move you are describing have felt that the C6 is NOT as fast as they expected......I think this is only because the C6 is so much more refined...its a LOT faster than it feels sometimes, whereas the C5, I think was not....at least in the C5, if you felt in your SOTP that you were going 70 MPH, you were right...in the C6, 100 MPH feels like 60...its quite amazing.

Yes, large difference in performance. As well as every other aspect of the vehicle.

Thanks for all the replies. I may have been wrong about the gears in the '07. What would come standard and what would be optional for the automatic trans?

Thanks again.

2.56 or 2.73's,maybe 3.15's?It won't matter if the c6 had no rear gears, you'll notice the difference the instant you hit the gas.HOLD ON!!

I recently moved up from an 02 Vert (Auto, 3:15 gears with Vararam and catback exhaust) to an 06 Coupe (MN6, 3:42). Hard to compare actually. I'd hate to bet on either one I think.

I had a 99 Vert, now have an 05 Vert.
My 05 will pull an 03-ish Z06 no problem.
I didn’t really feel any difference from the 99 to the 05 myself but when you run side by side - WOW.
Now all the C5 Z06 guys will bash this - what can I say.
Mileage… 99 Vert 33 Highway… 05 Vert 33 Highway - same - both cars are stick.

The '07 A6 has 2.56 only, nothing optional. Starting with the '08 A6 the 2.73 is the optional "performance axle".
