If Lutz's comments about the forseeable "extinction" of the V8 and high horsepower in the not to distant future are true, when would most make the leap to your next year and model Corvette? Or, would you just plan to keep your current vette?
Obtained my first one as a 50th birthday present and plan to keep this one for the rest of my life (I have an 18 year old and 22 year old son "bidding" for it someday). I really can't wait for it to get "old" - having something old that's nice is really fun. I just can't imagine ever getting "bored" with the power and overall experience of the C6.
My 07 will probably be it for me. I love the big v8 with the lightweight body...will run this one into the ground, unless gas goes up to 10 bucks a gallon first.
I did a 4 yr. lease on my 2007 thinking that the C7's would be out in 2011 and I would get a new one then. The more and more I hear about the potential future of the Corvette, the closer I come to buying out the lease and keeping this one for a long time. We may look back 20 years from now and realize that we owned (or still own) a C6 that is an "end of an era" car.
I plan on buying my next Vette when my current one becomes unreliable, since it is what gets me to work every day. <knockingwood>So far I've had no issues in 21K miles so that might be a long while. </knockingwood>
