Some reports in other threads state the retrofit of BT is not possible. I am investigating a BT setup called CIG-Blue. It looks pretty nice. I don't have a price yet since I only just identified some dealers here in Miami. I have to shop it around. Very nice built-in look to it.
Well, I'll let you know. I just inherited a Parrot CK-3100 kit and plan to install it in my C6 - this weekend if my luck holds. Looks like the control unit will go where the ashtray is and be invisible when the door is closed.
Although connecting this thing to the radio itself would be a real PITA, connecting it to the amplifier shouldn't be too difficult. At least it looks that way from the shop manual. And the amplifier is much easier to get to than the radio anyway. I'll let you know!
i suggest the wireless bluetooth device that motorola makes..its the motorola bluetooth t505 car kit. cost u about 80-90$ (try ebay first). i first did some research and read reviews and so far i am please. it is completely portable/transferable so that u can use it in other vehicles. it is very small/compact and clips to front visor. it has a built-in fm transmitter that enables u to play music and take calls thru the car radio. it also has a built-in microphone and speaker (comes with car charger too), and that may be all u need to hear your caller. for the price and features it is a good buy and u don't have to worry about fumbling with painful ear piece headsets. go to amazon.com and read for yourself.
rodney
there is also this sweet invention called a bluetooth headset. there like 30 bucks, i leave one in my car just for this reason,, someone calls my phone, i turn on the bluetooth earpeice and it connects and answers the phone. TADA! but i guess if you need your callers to come threw the speakers then you need another route,
the cig-blue bluetooth looks like a reasonable option if u want to hardwire a bluetooth kit to your car. read up on the parrot products and u will see that this is likely not a good option considering the motorola t505 can do the same thing and more at a cheaper price. i did go to the website of original designers of the cig-blue and to the posted link where it can be purchased, but cannot find any reviews on this item. it looks nice, can go right in the ashtray compartment and all, but im am sure there have been or could be some techincal issues with this device. i would not want that problem in my 50K vette.....maybe if someone had some threaded info on the forum u could make a better decison. as for now, go with the t505.
I think once the '09's come out, they will make the Bluetooth work for other models.
Won't happen in my opinion. The GM solution will be way too expensive to retro-fit to earlier models. There are several low cost solutions on the market right now and GM would not be able to compete with these. The GM engineers were asked this question at the C5/C6 Bash this year and their answer was it would not be cost effective to try and retrofit the 09 system into earlier models. I'm sure it is possible, but how much are you willing to spend? Bet it would cost you over $1000 for the GM components.
" I just went to a late breakfast with my buddy in his white 07 coupe... He had his top off... He called his old man to show me how it works. It comes with a FM transmitter that allows you to hear your calls back thru your stereo speakers... He found and unused band on his radio, set it as a preset and uses it when making/ receiving calls... He said he paid $130 for it. I just found it on a site for $89... It also will stream music over bluetooth and its portable...!
"For music lovers who want to stream their portable music to their car speakers while not missing a call hands free. Wireless Music, Stream music from your phone to the T505 and through it to the car audio system, using the FM transmitter. Clear Voice, High quality audio conversations in even the noisiest environment with powerful 2 watt speaker. Use your car speaker systems for surround sound. Easy to use, Surround sound audio experience without the hassles of pro-installation. Easy pairing, simple clip on visor and guided FM operation. StationFinder for easy lock in of FM station."

Really don't understand why people don't just use the built in phone that is already in the car. That is what I do. Seems sometimes people put more effort into pinching pennies than it is worth.

I'm sure you all have your reasons.
In my case I get unlimited free cellular voice and data courtesy of my employer via AT&T. Why would I want to pay OnStar money for Verizon minutes. I would rather have a convenient way to utilize my AT&T phone and not via a headset.

Ever try listening to your voicemail with the built in phone? Probably not because there is no keypad to dial in a numeric password/ code! I called up and was told since I had Verizon service on my cell phone I had to sign up for a Family Plan. A little detail they left out was that by doing that they'd add a year to my contract and that I'd have to wait a year to take advantage of the New Every Two cell phone upgrade... My father bought a Merc CLS a month ago... they do it right... BT built in... dial pad on the dash! Come on GM! As for pinching pennies, I'm paying for a (car) phone I haven't used in 2 months! A real cheap skate! My Moto T505 also has verbal caller I.D.! OnStar...Not!

The GM Bluetooth for 2009 is not standard equipment on each base version of the Corvette, which means that some cars come with it and some do not. That implies that it might be able to be added to some versions of existing cars.
Wait until somebody with a brain has a chance to look at the setup before forming an opinion.
There is no basis for believing anything rumored about the cost or adaptability of GM Bluetooth based upon gossip from some GM lacky. They are the same morons still trying to figure out how to glue a roof together and keep it from squeeking.

I would love to use the built in phone -- I don't understand why GM would tie it into limited and/or expensive service. I already have the family plan with AT&T. Also, I just bought my wife a Nissan Altima Hybrid and it has built in bluetooth--GM is way behind the eight ball on this.

I think your probably right, but that scenario leads me to believe that any '09 Bluetooth system is going to require a Nav screen, so people like me (with no factory Nac system) are still out in the cold!!!
