Default installing magnaflow cat back

I am about to install a Magnaflow cat back system on an 07 vet. I have been told to disconnect the battery first so that the computer can reset to the new exhaust. Has anyone ever done this and does this sound right? Disconnecting will then require indexing windows etc. Was also told that one side would have to be cut to remove??

Whoever told you to disconnect the battery for changing out mufflers doesn't know what they are talking about. The computer can careless what mufflers are on the back of the car. Save yourself the hassle and don't bother disconnecting it.

Also, as far as cutting you should not have to cut anything. As long as you get the back of the car on a set of jackstands as high as they will go you can maneuver the mufflers out without cutting. I know because I just did my exhaust 2 weeks ago on my 05. I ended up having the remove the entire H pipe and it was a bit of a job but I ended up getting it myself. Took a couple hours.

I never disconnected mine and as for cutting I did not cut anything. I installed Corsa Xtremes on mine. Hope this helps and good luck.
