Default Vert Top Problem

Has anyone else had a C6 Vert soft top not go all the way up? It seems that the hydraulics are either low or leaking pressure. The glass part of the top wont raise high enough for the lid to close and allow the completion of the cycle..

Is this a quick fix of some sort or a dealer call???

Thanks

I have not looked at the pump unit in the vett but there should be a reservoir. Check the reservoir and make certain it is full. You may have a hydraulic leak. Check for damp areas. Check the locations the hoses connect, you may find the leak there.

My 98 Camero pump went out and I was a be to rebuild it using O rings from the hardware store.

Use the correct fluid when replacing.

Thanks Rocketman. I sorta narrowed it to a hyd problem of some sort and went looking for the pump that the owners manual says is in the engine compartment, passenger side. There is even a diagram of the pump with several pressure lines going to the "front" side....

Well, I know my eyesight is failing, but for the life of me I cannot find that pump:o I have identified every component on both sides of the engine and cannot find the pump.

Anyone have a pic?

PS - boy do I feel stupid right now

The pump is under the tonneau cover behind the passanger seat, not the engine compartment. You'll have to pull back carpet to see it. There is no reservoir either. You can release the pressure by turning the large allen bolt and the wrench is supplied. I recommend releasing the hydraulic pressure and then retighten the bolt to see if that helps.

Just went out, found the pump (thanks to JJC5!) and discovered the pressure bolt was about an 8th turn loose, just enought to fail when needed the most. BTW, there is also a reservoir. I need a little fluid when I find the right type..

Gotta love this forum and the helpful members!!!
