I am daily ready to pull th trigger and then I wait-with the gas explosion, dipping stock market, sluggish economy- is any other potential vette buyers out there ready to pull the trigger on a purchase but sitting on the sidelines watching the economy and prices?
im right there with you brother, I got my eyes on the prize, I even actually have dreams about the C6! but I feel like I should wait till the end of the year use my bonus toward it. Perhaps there might be better financing deals when they are ready to clear out the 08's
You never know what the future holds especially when it pertains to the economy, I say you go around once, just do it! At least you will have something to smile about and it really is a great time to get a good deal, prices are down, interest rates are low and they will most likely go up, good time to buy. Why wait.

If you want the best price on a new one, wait until November when they gotta bring in the 09's.

Well, since the recession (some here called it a depression) never came close to materializing and the current estimate is we reached bottom last month, I doubt that prices will go down much more. We're into the summer buying season. That should raise prices. Now you will be able to get a better deal on an 08 as the 09's appear soon but that will also start limiting choices. If you are going to wait I think the next big opportunity will be Christmas when prices always fall because of no one wanting to buy just to put it away in the garage until spring.
But you never can tell with an election coming. They tried to talk us into a recession 6 months ago and they did manage to slow the economy some. They might try that again towards the election and again a bunch of people will believe it and stop buying and there might be a better price then. Any difference in price, however, is only going to be a few percent.
Smart buyers of anything, homes, bare land, autos.. always buy when the market is slow. If the economy was booming (and I think it is) the prices would be that much higher. Now is the time to buy if you have the cash. The best thing to do when the economy drives prices up is to hold on to your money. Then when the media creates a slump in the economy like they did to create this "slump" you can buy with cash. I'm not a business major, but have made a truck full of money following these rules. Now, I'm off to take advantage of a few forclosures .

it takes a lot of courage to admit that you drive a hyundai

You need to drive a new one. I am proud to say we have one and we love it. Only car I have ever owned that has not required a trip back to the dealer for any initial problems. It's an 08 Sonata with 6K miles on it. I bet you wish your car came with a 10 year 100K warranty and a 5/50 bumper to bumper.

There are two separate issues here. The economy is something that you will need to carefully evaluate as it applies to your own budget situation and your decision to buy an expensive car right now. As for gas prices however, the Corvette gets great mileage, or at least as good as a lot of so-called economy cars.
If you're hesitating, there must be a reason. Intuition, experience, etc. based on external factors and how they affect you. These are influencing your decision.
Think carefully, and then pull the trigger. If you really have all the bases nailed down, then do it. If not, weigh the risk and decide. Usually no one goes in with everything nailed, but some like it closer than others.
The ones who don't care are talking out of their hats.
Remember the more you wait the more chance you'll have to just settle for whatever options the car has on it...if you pull the trigger now your more liley to find an 08 exactly they way you like it.....I cannnot see getting an 09 when there are excellent deals on remaining 08s.
If you can do it, go for it! Good luck, I was in the situation as you, but decided to pull the trigger and get a C6, delivery next Tue! wooohoo

I am driving my 4th prize....had a 91, 03, 07 and now an 08....while you are keeping your eyes on the prize, I am driving mine...
