It doesn't dim very much, which I find annoying. On my C5, I could turn off the entire panel, which was fine, since I had the HUD. On the C6, even the dimmest setting is pretty bright.
Try this. With engine running and headlights on, turn the dimmer **** to left (to dim), or right and HOLD for a few seconds. On my o6 there is a time delay for some reason, and as stated before the dimming range is not much.
Look at the indication just below the switch. You should see a painted white band. Whichever end of the band has the most white paint, that's the direction you need to turn the dimmer switch and HOLD it to brighten. Turn the opposite way and HOLD to dim it.

Yep, I had the exact same question. It just didn't seem to dim much. I could see a difference when I turned up the switch. I will try the running engine/headlight on trick. Thanks.
