I am not new to the forums but seldom post. I enjoy reading and searching for advice and answers.
I picked up my 08' Coupe last Monday with only 2 miles on it. I started noticing a hissing noise after I drive home from work on Monday and today when I got to work. It has been about 80 degrees in the morning and 95 in the evening. The sound is actualy more like drops of water flicked on to a hot iron. I do not see anything leaking on the floor and the coolant level has remained constant. There is no coolant smell either. The car does not ppear to be running hot. I don't see any residue in the engine compartment like I did on my C5 when I did have a coolant leak.
Also, should the cooling fans stay on after the car is turned off? mine don't.
I know its hotter in FW then down here in Houston but what you are hearing is water dripping off the a/c condenser and onto the hot engine. Mine does it as well. My fans only stay on after the car is off when I have been driving in 100+ degree street traffic and the car is running above 215 degrees. Even then, they go off quickly. All depends on when they are set to come on, etc. in the cars computer systems.

AC condensation dripping onto the exhaust, and the engine cooling fan runs until the temp is reduced to a certain point, a lot of cars do that, don't know why the condensation hose was placed over the exhaust.

Technically it's the AC evaporator, the condenser is next to the radiator.
Thanks guys, I'll sleep better tonight and drive happier tommorrow?
Hey! How come the GM vent screens cost over$300.00??
Because they are the only ones that will stay on for the life of the car and do not require glue, silicone, tape and all the other goofy attachment methods. Held in place with factory fasteners. I got mine on eBay for $190. They do show up on there from time to time, you just have to keep watching for them. Mine did come from a GM dealer at that price.
