why doesn't GM show concepts/prototypes of upcoming Corvettes?
why the big secret? viper, porche, acura, ferrari, etc all show concept vehicles or photos/rendings of the new models in order to get people excited and ensure the design is going to be accepted? does it work? or is the 'unknown' factor a better marketing tool?

I think the unknown helps build up hype. Also with the 50th anniverssary year coming up, I bet GM doesn't want to kill sales with the new model right on it's heals.

Corvette is a profitable high-tech dream car
I think this was discussed last month in C5 General Discussion.
The Corvette brand is so strong and well-defined that a show car with the Corvette name only dilutes it.
And a near-production peek at the next generation Corvette stalls sales of current Corvettes. Remember that GM sells more than 30,000 Corvettes a year, and expects to make money on them.

This was a new concept that came along with the C5. They never did before.

Exactly, they lost money on it every year until the new ones. Do you know if theyre barely making it into the black?
Plus the cost was just up'ed $250 on all models. That is something like 7.5 million more revenue per year at only 30k units.

I hope they don't do like Thunderbird years ago and make the darn thing too big. Even the C-5's are too big for me. I drive a C-4 and my next one will be a 454 C-3 :chevy
