They are typically more difficult to program with certain items. Kee in mind not ll 07's had the Lear units. Only cars made after 10/2006.

My '08 required a call to Lears 800 number to get my GD Opener programmed but it only took a few minutes conversation with a tech and a few more minutes of my time to program. A 15 year old Sears GDO works fine with the Lear.

Some folks had trouble getting theirs programmed, and some older garage door openers needed some add-on box to work with it. Based on the (relatively low) number of posts on the subject, I believe a relatively small percentage of owners actually had any issues. In my case, the unit in my '08 has had no problem working with a Wayne Dalton garage door opener, and now with a replacement LiftMaster unit. Range is just as good as with the older Homelink transmitter in my wife's F-150.

I have a new Hoermann and it doesn't work with that one. The old homelink worked great. Sigh.

Don't forget the mild to wild. It would work with homelink, but not the new units. That is a REAL inconvience.

My door opener does not work with lear. So, I do not have a favorable opinion of theat feature. My door opener is a new model that was installed when I bought the house. I believe it is manufactured by Marantec and is the quietest I have ever heard.
