Michelin Tires Out Soon !
#21
I found a different Michelin page that lists sizes:
It shows the Z06 front (275/35-18) but not the rear (325/30-19).
Of course if Michelin becomes the OEM tire for Corvette (sounds like this is the case but I couldn't find a reference) then I'm sure they'll make them.

I too had Michelin ZP's on my C5.
The tread wear and Temperature rating was the same as the GYs.
The ride was quieter and a "little" softer. And the Michelins were about $200 less for the 4 tire set.
All in all a good tire.
When my C6 needs new shoes, I will consider ZPs.

Anybody know hom much tread wear they'll have? If it's more than the current tire they might be worth looking into.
The only thing is that every time I've gotten non OE replacement tires I've noticed a change in the ride feel.

Wonder what the tread wear life is? Pilot sports wear quickly. 200 I think. Anything under 300 is a bit to fast wearing for me. Pilot sports on my M3 were gone in 8,000 miles.

tires
we put theregular PS2's on our car 305/30/19 rear and 265/40/18 front and they are night and day difference than OEm after we modded the car. specially on a hot asphalt day and cornering. A bit pricey though at $486.00 per tire.

New Mitchelin PS2s Tires Are "Summer" Tires For ZR1
In Corvette Qauarterly, Summer 2008, on page 55, per Michelin tire development engineer Lee Willard points out that the new PS2s are definitely "summer" tires and they are definitely NOT for ice or snow. Also there are NO current plans to provide winter ZR1 tires.

From someone in the know: the new tires are made of a harder substance than the GY supercar tires; so, wear will be much better, but performance will not. If you are not tracking your car and you need a longer wearing tire, they will be great!!!

I'm not too sure about that. The Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires have the exact same tire ratings as the Goodyear Supercar Tires and that is Treadwear Grade - 220, Traction rating - AA and Temperature rating - A. Now it could be when the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 ZP's come out, they could have a different Treadwear Grade than the regular Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's. That remains to be seen but I would think they would be the same ratings.

Ps2 N1
I bought my Vette with 2700 miles on it. The previous owner had replaced the tires/wheels with aftermarket Z06 repos and Micheline tires. The fronts wear the normal PS2s, but the back has the 305/30/19 N1s. I have done several burnouts and covered over 16k miles and still have plenty of tread depth left. I will be watching for feedback on the new ZPs, because having a flat is my only concern with my present tires. My 02' Z06 had supercars and they did not last
8k miles.
8k miles.

Tire Grades: Uniform Tire Quality Grading System or UTQG

Thanks for the info, I didn't know that. I always thought treadwear grades were the same accross all manufactures or at least similar.

I noticed today on the Michelin web site they will be out with C5 and C6 tires in OEM sizes as well as Run Flat, Michelin calls them Zero Pressure (ZP). Coming out August 2008. I would assume in Z06 sizes as well. The new ZR1 is suppose to be using these new Michelin's as well. They are the Pilot Sport PS2 ZP. I will be needing some rear tires at least after my next HPDE @ VIR put on by the NCM coming up at the end of June. I think I will give these new Michelins a try next time I need rubber. Check it out at: http://www.michelinman.com/ps2zp/
The aftermarket Michelin® Pilot® Sport PS2 ZP™ tire only comes in one flavor. Also, at this time, there is no performance data to compare the Michelin® Pilot® Sport PS2 ZP™ warm, dry weather handling/traction to the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tire. I assume the Michelin will be very competitive with the Goodyear, but there is no data to support the comparison.

I like that Goodyear makes a factory (TPC) for the base C6 (the GS tire) and a factory (TPC) tire for the RPO Z51 C6 (the Supercar tire).
