While driving today I received a message on the DIC to service active handling. I drove to my location and when I came back out to the car the message no longer appeared. This is an 05 C6. Anyone had this happen? Should it be checked out? Thanks.

I had the exact same SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING message, it would show only once in a while. Chances are you both have the loose harness underneath the steering wheel. No biggy, its a TSB and youll be out in an hour. They just snap on a new longer wire harness.

Check out the following: Easy fix I did mine in about 30 minutes, but your dealer will do it for free if still under warranty.

This happened to my 2005. I brought it to the dealer, they diagnosed the problem in about 10 minutes, and ordered a new wiring harness clip for the steering wheel. The actual repair took 30 minutes...tops.
If there's a TSB on it, wouldn't the dealer fix it anyway, warranty or not?

No...a TSB is not a recall - it is a catalog of issues that have popped up before. The techs use it as a guide to help troubleshoot the problem and speed up repairs. It doesn't mean GM pays for the repair.
As has been indicated if this is an isolated incident I wouldn't worry too much about it. If it has happened before, or if it happens again, I would consider a trip to the dealership and have the TSB performed to R&R the connector as indicated. Of course this is if your car has the telescoping steering column.
Not to be an alarmist but the repeated tugging on the connector can contribute to a condition called fretting of the connector pins. If this happens they can start a carbon buildup on the surface caused by the repeated arcing. If this buildup becomes enough to change the resistance of the connector it can lead to false readings to the steering wheel position sensor. Any false interpretation of the SWPS can lead to some diabolical behavior of the active handling system and cause the car to take proactive measures to right a perceived wrong. You really don't want this happening at the wrong time.
Other contributors can be an abs sensor or wheel speed sensor failing which can also cause the error message to appear. The last issue that I've also seen contribute was having one tire inflation pressure very high while having the other at or near the low end. This can cause measurement issues from the wheel speed sensor.

You aren't lying about "diabolical behavior!" My car applied the brake (only one side ) while I was in downtown heavy traffic. Almost took out a honey on a scooter in the lane next to me! I drove SLOWLY to the dealership and no way would I get on the freeway! This was last Friday. DIC "ACTIVE HANDLING ACTIVATED"
Scary, just scary because you never know when it's going to happen. The death grip on the steering wheel isn't much fun either.

Mine has been intermittent but more frequent lately . . . will the short connector set a code? The dealer says no codes or history come up in the diag's.
