Sometimes when I turn my steering wheel, it squeaks. It didn't start till I started moving the tilt wheel up to ease enterance in the car. I sprayed some silicone between the wheel and the tilt mechanism. It helps but doesn't totally go away. I don't want to take it to a dealer, because I'm afraid it will come back worse than it is now. Guess I live with it.....
I have the squeaking steering wheel also!
When your in a parking lot say... and the radios off, if you turn the wheel right and left you can hear like a rubber against rubber type of squeak, if your taking a hard left turn and you spin the wheeel 360 degrees it squeaks the whole turn. Its hard to describe the noise. Its like your standing on a fresh waxed floor with sneakers and you pivot on one back and forth. Not as loud but the same noise. Very aggravating
My rear is also clunking so I'll have them took a look then I guess. But I'm not looking foward to taking it to the dealer.
Which brings up a point....
Why are we all so scared to take our cars to the dealer, the "trained professionals"!!!!
ZeusC6 you discribed it exactly. I would take it to a dealer but I live in Central Missouri where they sell pick-ups and very few Corvettes. Yes, I'm afraid to take it to a local dealer, expecially hearing the horror stories of fellow forum members. The silicone spray does help, but doesn't fix the problem.
my new 08 does it too,,, mine however the noise comes and goes,,, depends on the roughness of the road ive noticed,, but it is annoying to say the least.... rj
