Nakidparts NPP in a box is about $270, new NPP mufflers from Gene at gmpartshouse.com are about $1299.

If you wanted to spend some time looking you could probably find used NPP mufflers for about half. You also have the option of using Z06 mufflers instead of NPP. We hear the Z06's sound a little tamer.

Good luck!

I'm in the process of doing this on my 06. You have a few choices. I bought a used set of 08 NPP off a standard C6 on Ebay. I've heard/seen them go anywhere from $450 up to $1000 (on our forum). I paid pretty close to the middle for mine. Or you can buy new for around $1200 to $1300 shipped from one of the forum dealers. But Gene Culley says most of the ones from Chevy get the tips all scratched up during transit. I guess GM doesn't protect the tips when shipping to their dealers.

The other choice is to buy a used NPP off of a late model Z06. These go for less money, anywhere from $250 to maybe $600. But here you have to cut off the exhaust tubing that goes to the muffler (they are 3" diameter) and weld on the tubes that you cut off your stock mufflers (2.5" diameter). Muffler shops charge around $100 to $200 for this including installation. The only difference that I can tell is that the Z06 NPP mufflers don't have perforations on the inside of the tips. Otherwise the tips are the exact same diameter (larger than your current stock tips).

Now the hard or easy part. You have to get vacuum to the butterfly actuators. You can buy the stock parts from GM (I've heard this costs around $300) or you can do your own plumbing with an electric solenoid valve in line. Either way you will have to take off the rear valence and plumb a vacuum line from the engine to the rear of the car.

Here's the easy way to do it. Contact Ed at Pipedreams and buy one of his NPP in a Box. It's a cool little self-contained vacuum pump. You put the pump in one of the rear storage compartments and run the vacuum down to the mufflers and the electrical line up to the passenger fuse box. I was NOT going to do the NPP until Ed came out with this wonderful option. Plus it cost less than using the stock system. And the best part is he'll give you two remote controls to open and close the NPP at will. Or you can even program 2 buttons from your Visor Homelink to do the same function.

Good luck.

I picked up a set of Z06 mufflers from a forum member and hooked up the mild to wild. The muffler shop charged me $50 to fabricate reducers and connect them to my ARH x-pipe. I programed the switch into my homelink. The mtw took about 30 minutes to set up. The whole set up cost me about $700 installed and it sounds great.

I went with the B&B Fusions on my 08 and I have been very happy. Louder than stock NPP when closed and wonderful when open. The build quality is incredible as well.

I took a different approach than any of the above. I bought the whole exhaust system from a Z06 from a CF member. Then I purchased Pipedreams NPP in a box. The sound is unbelievable. No drone with flaps closed. Real muscle car sound open. And the Z06 headers w/high flow cats really wakeup the LS2.

I bought a set of almost new 08 takeoffs from a forum member for $750 shipped. They are now on my 05 and sound AMAZING!! I currently have nothing hooked up as far as valve control so I currently use zip ties to keep the valves where I want. Actually works very nice and costs nothing lol (they are open most of the time anyway). Obviously cant control them remotely but for now thats fine. Down the road I will get one of the controllers.
I stayed away from the Z06 mufflers because they sound nothing like the NPP and require modifications unlike the 08+ NPP. Also, the 08+ NPP mufflers have cool resonating holes inside the tips where as the Z06's dont. Just looks kind of cool
