Default Lear visor need some help

Under warranty on our early 06 3LT (9-05), the dealer replaced the loose rear view mirror (complete) and both visors. They had broken vanity mirror hinges. We had or maybe still have Homelink. Are the buttons in the visor just that and the Homelink brain is someplace else and still there? Or is there something in the visor that is now Lear? And the system is now entirely Lear? Dunno and the service writer was unsure as well.

Our 06 manual explains how to set the Homelink which was a snap to program. We have a 10 yr old Liftmaster GD opener with rolling codes. If we need them, are the Lear instructions the same? If not, could someone post the Lear program sequence or a link to them. And the 1-800 for Lear tech support. From some posts, I might need it. Got some work to do getting back to where we started. Vanity mirror hinges, go figure. Thanks.

The visors are self-contained ... right behind the buttons is the electronics module and antenna. So if you now have three LEDs, then its a Lear; a single was Homelink.

I bought a Homelink visor from a junkyard (from a Toyota, actually), ripped the module out of it and put it in my Lear-equipped visor (required a good upholstery shop's help).

The current visor changed from a homelink transmitter to a lear transmitter. The unit is self contained in the visor. You will need to use the programming instructions from a 2007 or newer owners manual. You can download one here:

...I know some people have had issues programming the Lear but I found it to be easier then the Homelink. I programmed mine in just a couple of minutes and that time included reading the instructions and walking to get my keyfob.

So I know because of the forum. Or at least think I know being aware of the threads here. The service guy had no clue.

Thanks for the link to the service manuals. Added it to my fav's list for future reference.
