How many of you have a passport detector? Are they worth the money?

Have you tried the Search function? This subject has probably hundreds of existing discussions.

I have the 9500i, love it, sold my V1 to a forum member and have neve looked back, the arrows were cool , but the GPS on the 9500i is the real ticket. You can cut down on false alarms that the V1 gets by 90%. The V1 falsed so much I would either turn it off in the city (what good does a radar detector turned off do) Or I would just ignore most the signals and before you know it is was a radar. The arrows don't help you when it is repetitive falsing as you don't even look up at the detector, you kind of try and zone out the annoying alerts. NO more with the 9500i, so is it worth the money????? No brainer!!!!! ABSOLUTELY!

I bought the one that works on batteries only and put it on my sun visor right next to my ears/eyeballs. You can listen to loud tunes and still see/hear alerts. Works good, lasts long time.

I heard as the batteries start to lose potency, the detector itself isnt AS good as the hard wired ones ? I know it has an automatic shut off and such but it does make a bit of sense although I am not an engineer. I have seen tests on the original 8500 wired up against other wired units and then the battery versions by themselves and the hard wired seemed to do better. I am not knocking the battery version as the wires get on my GD nerves all the time but that is what I read

I have the 8500 blue led and it still works great. Weird thing though, if I hit the horn it falses laser..... I am not sure about that but it does get annoying even though I dont use my horn too often. What is up with that ? Need calibration or what ? It still picks up the radar, x , k,ka and laser.

It has saved me several tickets and I make sure I have it on all the time. I sometimes wonder about the V1 since that cat helped invent the original escort. The arrows do sound nice and the 9500 doesnt interest me if the gps is the only addition as I have factory navi and aftermarket navi too.

I do with a visor mount and invisicord. I got the Blue LED one since my Vette is Lemans Blue.

No offense brother but HE wants to know if it is worth the money, not just what color what your leds are. I have the lmb paint too though and it looks nice with the paint. What do you think of the detector itself ?

I have one. And, although it has saved me a few times, I have still gotten a ticket with it on. Instant on by the police trumps any radar detector EVERY time.

Passport is a good radar detector though. More useful on the interstates than two lane roads.

Good luck.

To reinforce an earlier comment . . learn to use search- you'll probably answer 75% of your questions more quickly and accurately than starting another post.

To respond to your question, I've got a Passport, Escort 8500 and a new 9500 - - -and their effectiveness (and cost) is in the same order from least to best. And every one of them was worth the dough I've spent for them.
