160 and I had more to go! Pedal wasn't to the floor either. Car is still stock, A6 with NPP and 2:73 Performance Rear...I was coming home from the Eckler's Car Show April 1st in Celebration, Florida and was on the Courtney Campbell Causeway, a very lonnnnng stretch of 4 lane roadway, several miles long, crossing over water between Tampa and Clearwater. I was being "harassed" by this Beemer AMG something or other, V8 series, very new looking car and decided I had enough and waved bye-bye. I shifted from D into S and shifted from 6th up into 3rd with 3/4 throttle, and it was all over. NO, this wasn't quite a race between two cars, I just had enough, spent all day at a car show(took 3rd place in stock, by the way) was exhausted and there were no other cars but water around on both sides so I took the chance.
The rest was, well, HISTORY!
The Defense rests...
08 ? ? ?
My 05 Vert has been to the speed limiter a few times, I think that's 168 ? ?
The Corvette C6 does not have a "speed limiter". The car is aero limted and tops out at approximately 186 mph. Not sure what you encountered but it wasn't the car that caused it.

I used to think I wanted to take mine to the limit until I read the story on the guy in the Enzo who crashed on a closed road at an estimated 206. Our cars don't have the required safety devices for that kind of speed., like roll cages and the proper harnesses.
Nice to have the ability, but now I think it is more about bragging rights than actual achievement.
Took it to the Tail of the Dragon and had a blast at 35 to 40 MPH.
