Default WTS: 2007 Black/Cashmere 2LT 6 spd Z51 4800 miles

Just found out my wife is pregnant so I am 90 percent sure I will be getting rid of my vette. We are looking at either selling it or trading it in on a 07 or newer Cadillac Escolade, or CTS I like the new V, or a 07 or newer BMW 335i sedan. I was curious what might be the better option to trade or sell outright. I am in no rush baby is due in February, just feeling things out. I know everything is selling slow so I thought might be better to trade.

My vette is a 2007 2LT Black coupe with cashmere interior, Z51 package, 6 speed manual, chrome rims, a little less than 4800 miles on it. I chose the factory stereo because I always put aftermarket radios in. Have all receipts, work all done by Circuit City, Head unit did not come with NAV but has option to add its a Panasonic DVD all infinity kappa perfect components, and a 12 inch kicker solo-baric L5. Installed a chrome grill, and a exhaust emblem. Other than that everything else is factory, always garaged, never been to the track all papers and factory sticker. As of todays date I owe about 15k so that would be a factor during trade seeing how I would be able to pay down a lot ot the taxes. Car is located just north of Tampa.

Just curious opinions what I should do sell or trade? And what I could expect as a private party sale, and what I could expect on trade. Thanks.

trade might get you a big tax savings which when added to what you get on trade could be worth it.Tough market out there now with 09's going for cheap!Saw a "employee pricing on 09's " thread on here.

I don't see where you live from your profile........but if it is like here in the Pacific NW, you are going to get a lot better offer on your Vette at the beginning of summer than you are in the middle of winter.....if you are someplace warm year round............never mind!!!!

I think you will be better off selling it you should get more for it than if you trade. Yes if you trade you will save some tax money but that may be off-set by the dealer offering you less than you could sell it for and you paying sticker for the new car. I think you make out better with a clean deal and a private sale.

Sell it outright. As far as what you can get for it, look at Edmunds or KBB. Yes, you will hear a lot of people hollering on this forum that those prices are overstated and that they would never pay them. That said, the majority of people will pay them and use them to figure out what they will pay!

I highly value the opinion of the forum members. However, most buyers are not members of the CF and don't know that 09s are going for Supplier or employee pricing. My take - you will get KBB or Edmunds on your vette. That's what I would list it at, and if you are motivated to sell, move down a little from there as necessary.

Cheers and good luck.

Should be able to get a great deal on a escalade. Look at dealer trade in auctions. Nobody is bidding on them. Know anybody who can bid for you? Great deals to be had.

Just in gas alone for driving an Escalade you could just pay off your Vette if you only owe 15k and get a CR-V or RDX and just keep the vette. I was just talking to a buddy of mine today and he commented how he was spending $150 week in gas on his V8 F150. I told him to just go buy a Civic or Focus and save the money. He asked how was he going to be saving money by buying a new car. I said easy, you do not have a payment, but you spend $600 a month in gas. Buy a new car for $200 per month and put $200 per month in gas in it and pocket the other $200.

I know you are not basing your decisions strictly on efficiency, but there are options for you to keep your vette and still have a vehicle to haul the family. Trust me, when you have to fill that Escalade up the first time you will have buyers regrets. Also keep in mind that no matter what mods you put on your vehicle you will not get that money back and the car market is just like the housing market. It is only worth what someone is willing to pay and times are hard for most right now. Good Luck and let us know.

I'm sure your right. We have pretty much made up our mind we are going to the BMW 335i drove it yesterday and pretty much sold on it, my wife loves it. I will probably try to sell the vehicles private party for about 3 months then trade.
