Default High octane gasoline

I just read a 5 day old thread about ethanol, Citgo etc. At risk of beating the dead horse again, To #@!! with Chavez gas! By thr wat he is changing the name to "Petro". Beware!

I live in north Florida and I have found a Sunoco station that still has 100 octane racing fule for sale($9.00 per gal). The pumps for 87, 89 & 93 do not indicate any ethanol content.

If you have Sunoco in your area check it out and report back.

A couple of Shell stations here in Hawaii are still selling 100 octane fuel price is around $10.00 a gallon. Hawaii octane rating is 87, 89 and 92, our Aloha Petroleum has no ethanol added in.

Pretty much all 91 octane here in NorCal from what I've encountered.
No 100 octane at all ....

After I learned about Citgo being owned by Chavez, vowed never to buy gas from them again! Haven't seen 100 octane in DFW area, but 93 is readily available.

Unless you are racing and are highly modded in a way that increases compression why would you want to pay extra for 100 octane? The car is designed to run on 91 and using any higher won't make it run any better.

Unless you have a radical tune with lots of advance, a supercharger running lots of boost, or nitrous oxide, there is no gain (and a loss, in fact) from running 100 octane. This has been beat to death.

The only performance advantages I have experienced with 100 octane were in The Old Days when I could crank my timing up a few degrees, or with my Vorteched LT1, where I got real gains above 5,000 rpm.

Hmmm . . . Sunoco Stations had a dail on the side with as many as 6 selections for octane rating.

Advance the timing, and check the dwell angle, and go race.

We are getting old. That's when gas was $.30/gal for the good stuff.

Sorry OP didn't mean to hi-jack your thread.

If 110 octane was readily available, there would be some people on here who would be out in the middle of the night looking for it!
