Thank you for all the comments. If anyone else is going to paint the hoodliner, I would recommend you cut out a stencil in the shape of the fleur de lis and then lay it over the red paint.
I should have done that, but didnt think of it until afterwards. In fact, if Ed at pipedreams could make a pdf file of the cutout, it would be a good idea for others. Perhaps I'd even redo that section of my liner.
Because the fleur de lis impressed into the hoodliner is not done very well, I just freehanded the design and ignored some of the impressed edges of the pattern....worked out fine. The majority of the impressed pattern was done very well and made for good lines to follow with the paint. It was the last part that I painted though, because it was such a pain!
Mine doesnt look as nice. I think the brush I used was too large to get the detail in the fleur. Maybe someday, I'll redo that part. It's just too damn hot here in AZ right now.
