My FOB is acting up. Car would not start with Fob in console. I picked in up and car started. Sometimes car will lock with FOB in console. Any Ideas? Thanks, Ron.
The antennas in the car that detect the fob are not detecting the fob when it's in the console. I don't know if they should or not, but I'd try to find a place on my person where I could keep the fob when I'm in the car.
The console may be to far for the fob to be detected I always keep my fob in my right front pants pocket, never leave it in the console just in case you get out and close and lock the door. By keeping the fob in my pocket I cannot be locked out.
If there are any questions on your fob then place it in the fob slot which is located in your glove compartment left side. If the car does not start and you get a reading fob not detected then your fob battery needs to be changed.

Never tried it with my FOB in the console. Too darn likely to leave it in the car. I always keep the FOB on my person so it leaves the car when I do, without having to think about it.
I usually wear jeans and it fits perfectly in that silly little pocket on the right side above the regular pocket.
I tested my fob and it will start the car if it is in the glovebox slot even without any battery in it. Also, from what I have heard here, the system for making sure that the fob doesn't get locked in the car is just not very dependable so probably not a good idea to rely on it.
Do you have any other electronics active in the car? Cell phone, cell phone charger, DC to AC converter?
Any/all of these have been known to interfer with the car being able to sense the Fob.
You have a good point. I have a pole barn that I keep my motor home in and it has 3 garage doors with electric door openers on them. To make a long story short, every time I plug in the motor home and the converter is running, the garage door will not open with the remote control. I enter the barn through the side man door and open one of the garage doors with the corded wall switch. If I unplug the motor home, the doors will work with the remote.
