I'm not absolutely sure, but I believe those are part of the console and are not sold separately. I had a friend who got a new console and I was amazed at how much stuff came attached to it...vents, buttons, trim etc.

In the diagram below, it appears that those items are part of the console and are probably not sold separately:

You are absolutely correct. Those trim rings cannot be purchased separately. They are actually heat staked in place and cannot be added after the fact currently. I've contacted the manufacturer of the center console directly on this issue.

Were the chrome pieces on it. I ordered the console but it didn't have them installed.
Have seen this diag. However these trim pieces are not on the new console unit when it is ordered.
That only applies to orders placed through the service organization. They are on the new console as it ships from the factory. If the console needs to be replaced the top part (with the trim attached) is transferred from the old console to the new console when the swap is made. There is currently no known way to purchase just the rings and if you order the top portion, as you noted, it will not come with the rings attached. The only way to get the rings is to order a completed assembly for the center console and it comes with all the requisite switches, cupholders and ash tray attached along with the rings. If you attempt to order the console sublevel part you don't get the accessories nor do you get the trim.

Chevy sells the console. I have one but it does not have these chrome pieces on it.

That's exactly right and you cannot buy them. Draxelmaier makes console complete with the trim rings and I've contacted them about purchasing them. The only way to get the rings is to purchase the complete console assembly (rings attached) and not try to purchase it from the parts catalog. What you get that way as you well know is the shell for the console with no switches, no ashtray, no cupholder and no rings. Lot's of us have all ready been down this road. Your best bet is to try to get a console out of a salvage car and swap the rings over yourself.

Why would they sell the top portion if the rings cannot be installed on them?

While it doesn't make sense, the thought is for body shop and Chevrolet repair facilities. If something happens to the lower portion of the console it can be replaced and the trim rings can be swapped over from the other console. I've spoken to GM, Draxel Maier and Corvette about it and we can't buy them.

Well that's a bummer. But thanks for all the info!!!
The rings aren't really heat staked to the console. When I do the conversion to the Crystal Red Metallic console the trim rings fall right out. They're actually bolted in along with some other pieces.
The rings are not available and you must purchase a complete console assembly to get what you're looking for.
