Default fuel injector service

I have a 2007 Vette with 30,000 miles. I'm due for routine service. The Chevy service department told me I should replace my fuel injectors and change the transmission fluid. I have a six speed. Is this considered routine maitenance? The car runs fine.

I always go by the service schedule recommended in the owners manual . . . I guess changing fluids seems ok, but I don't see any reason to replace fuel injectors.

Maybe the transmission fluid change, but if its running fine you don't need fuel injectors. Ask them why they want to do this as most all injectors will last at least 100,000 miles or more. I would say,,, run like the wind to another dealer.

Take out wallet - place on counter - replace injectors -

Find another dealer - just another example of upping the cost of routine and simple maintenance. Some needed, some not

I could see a dealer trying to push a injector cleaning, but replacement. No, you are being ripped off.

Default fuel injectors

Thanks. Believe it or not, they told me they usually change them every 15,000 miles. When I questioned the person on the phone, she responed that the quality of the gas today requires this. Gas may be more expensive but I don't think the quality has changed! Maybe it is time to try another dealer.

You have to read the maintenance schedule in the owners manual.I know first hand they will tell you anything to make a buck. I even had one chevy dealer tell me if i did not use the GM oil filters it would void my warrenty.

Mind blower.

I would either talk to the service manager, general manager, or owner. Or try another dealer if that's better for you.

Check your maintenance schedule book that comes with your owners manual, follow that and keep all your receipts.

You don't need to service the injectors unless they are malfunctioning, you would see a warning on the DIC indicating a Check Engine.

You can run some Techron concentrate through the fuel system. It can be purchased at any auto parts store.

This statement is a total lie. Define "Usually", please, Mr. dealer. Quality of gas is better than it has ever been. Injectors are typically lifetime components. As stated above an injector failure will trigger a DIC code.

Run, do not walk away from this money, grubbing, lying, chiseling dealer. They are working on transferring money from your account to theirs by spreading misinformation (we called it lying where I grew up).

I would not patronize this dealer for the simple fact that they are not trustworthy. If they lie to try to get you to spend money needlessly, why would they be dissuaded from not doing service that they charge you for???

Pure thievery. Plan and simple.

Better that you should share the name of this dealer - the stupid shall be punished - this dealer should loose money by being advertised as a criminal.

There is nothing in the maintenance schedule about changing the fuel injectors. I would recommend another dealer if this is how they plan to take your money from you. From your owners manual:

Required services are described in the following for
“Maintenance I” and “Maintenance II.” Generally,
it is recommended that your first service be
Maintenance I, your second service be Maintenance II,
and that you alternate Maintenance I and Maintenance II
thereafter. However, in some cases, Maintenance II
may be required more often.

Maintenance I — Use Maintenance I if the message
comes on within 10 months since the vehicle was
purchased or Maintenance II was performed.

Maintenance II — Use Maintenance II if the previous
service performed was Maintenance I. Always use
Maintenance II whenever the message comes on
10 months or more since the last service or if the
message has not come on at all for one year.

Tell them if you need injectors, then that must be covered under warranty. See if they agree that GM will pay for that. They will change their mind.

Aside from oil changes that are determined by the DIC, these are the items that need attention at the mileage indicated:
