Purchased a 05 C6 six weeks ago (mileage less than 18K, auto. trans.). Had intermittent DIC message about service active handling sy. Had mechanic do the tie-wrap on the wiring harness per GM Tech bulletin. Also had brake pedal sensor replaced due to sometimes when went to start car, DIC gave message to push brake pedal and I was pushing brake pedal. After having all that done, no problems for weeks. Now I have had the service active handling sy. come on once (reset itself shortly thereafter) and also recently had problems starting engine because I was getting the push brake message again (I was), but after few attempts, finally started. I assume this is some intermittent sensor/electrical issue. Any suggestions?... so intermittent, hard to figure it out. Thanks!
The latest fix for the wiring harness involves replacing a clip, not installing a tie wrap, although that may also work. Was this fix done at a GM dealership?
Is your car under any sort of warranty at this point? If it is, I'd get it into a dealer ASAP and let them resolve the issues. If not, I'd be looking for a good Corvette tech or a competent dealership to make this all right.
Thanks Stan. Dealer didn't know about the GM Tech Bulletin to try a tie-wrap so I had my mechanic (private shop) do the work... he was familiar with the problem. First I have heard about replacing a clip, but I'll pursue that. Do you know if GM issued a tech bull. on this?

Yes, there is a bulletin out about this. The wiring in the steering wheel can stretch from the wheel's movement and, if this happens, it will generate an error message. Your dealer should be able to read the error code from the car's computer and get back the TSB from GM.
I had intermittent "Service Active Handling" messages on the DIC in my 2005. It took a few minutes for my dealer to diagnose the problem, a few days to order the new wiring harness clip, and 20 minutes to install it. The problem never came back.
If you C6 is still under warranty, you should take it to the dealer. If not, it would be a good idea to get ans extended warranty.
This answers the question, IMHO, of whether or not to purchase an extended warranty. With these vehicles so electrical intense, one of these episodes could cost more than the coverage.
