Default getting really hot and bothered here...

Been driving poor Corvettemods1 mad tonight..back and forwards PM's.

Trying to put some of his LED lights in my footwells. First, I just cannot get the orginal foorwell lights to go off. It states in the manual that by pressing the instrument panel brightness ***, one can turn them on and off. Yes it works with the door closed, but not open and there is no way I can reach under the dash with the door closed. Didn't seem right to change them whilst they were on??

As if that wasn't bad enough....obviously I am just not paying attention to what one is supposed to do but one is meant to get a small screwdriver and lightly jimmy it somewhere...........well I presumed it was where the lens cover is to release this cover, but can't do this either?? HELP...................... am now having a large Vodka..

Probably the best way to go..however, why isn't the brightness *** doing what it's supposed to do.?......................could someone try this on your car and see if it turns off with the doors open. then I will know it's not just a fault on my car...they all happen like this, but if so, would like to know how people are changing their bulbs..with the lights on..surely not? Thx.

Maybe I'm a dummy, but I just installed mine a few minutes ago, all eleven, and did them all witht the lights on. So I could tell if they were in backwards or not Polarity issue, ya know. Mine work fine...

Map lights are a pita finally got mine out by using a very small flathead screwdriver on one side and my finger on the other side of the bulb and gently pulled and rocked back and forth simutainousley might also try to slip some vacume tubing over the bulb so you have something to grip

The map lights I popped off with a pocket knife....Yea I was nervous too.....they'll pop out in the floor with a lil' pressure..gently.....the under dash lights, just pop out the whole damn thing, not just the cover....change the bulb and stick 'em back in....

oh, and DON'T break a map light bulb.....I understand that will make for a bad day.....

Glove Box..1 bulb...(REAL PITA)
Marker lights...4 bulbs
Map lights....2 bulbs
Under Dash...2 bulbs
Lic Plate.....2bulbs

You say........."just pop out the whole damn thing, not just the cover"

I've NEVER heard of under-dash lights (in any vehicle) that can be turned off with either door open.
