57 for an 08 is steep!! Who did that to you?
Anyway if you just bought it 4 months ago. Why do you want to sell it?
I'm sorry to hear of your situation

The problem goes beyond what the car is "worth" to the buyers who are out there. Cars are moving very slowly right now. Dealers only have the ability to invest $xxx in their inventory. Too many cars and not enough buyers. They would rather invest their inventory dollars in fuel efficient cars that are moving. So yes, you car is "worth" less.

They can use the $50k or more that you car is actually worth to buy about five used economy cars for their lot.

I wanted a Z06, but the trade on my 07 was $29,000-32,000. I'll keep it forever! I'll buy a Z06 or a Viper ( ) next year to keep it company.

Life with vette get used to it.
Deep discounts up front, high gas prices prevailing, GM teetering over the cliff and into bankrupcy, slow economy and depression level tensions all contribute to the free fall in resale values for vettes.
So get ready: e.g. 07 a6 vert, 11K miles, LT3, Z51, chrome, auto top, extended 7 year warranty 32K and dropping by August/September. We're at Defcon 3 and going to 2.

With the prices I've seen on new Corvettes by dealers on this forum, I can understand why resale is not as great as some of us might have hoped. Not that it's a bad thing, just a fact of life.
If you want the Lexus, get it, provided it appeals more to you than the Corvette. But, don't expect the Lexus to hold its value any better than the Corvette - and, possibly it might be worse.
If you want a car that is likely to hold its value, or even appreciate, believe me, you won't want to drive it for fear of diminishing its value.
I had a valuable collector Porsche which was at least holding its value and similar examples were brining close to their original sticker price. I traded it for a brand new '07 C6 1LT in late '06 and have been enjoying the hell out of it. (The C6, not the Porsche) I even loan it to my daughter and her husband for road trips and weekend outings.
I suppose I could have kept the Porsche and watched it hold its value - perhaps even appreciate - but it was an older car, not very practical for long trips and the more miles I put on it, the less valuable it became. Not to mention parts were becoming a little scarce - like, oh, $5,000 windshields.
You can't have ot both ways I guess, unless you're very wealthy. I'm not, but I am having fun with my Corvette. When I'm ready for another, I'll shop for the best deal, but certainly don't expect to get anywhere near what I paid for it.
