Exhaust question. NPP vs GHL
Hi!
I am considering buying an 09 with NPP from out of state. Won't get a chance to preview the NPP prior to buying.
I currently have GHL exhaust on my 05. I really like the exhaust note. Aggressive but not obnoxious. Was hoping someone could give me a comparison of GHL to the NPP exhaust.
Thanks!!

NPP IS QUIET LIKE STOCK ALL THE TIME until YOU OPEN THE BAFFLES AT 3500RPM's.Then it sounds ok.LOUD,no drone for the most part, but not really something I'd spend 1200 bucks on again.BASSANI,and many others sound better,GHL included!!Get ED pipedreams MILD TO WILD and the exhaust is a little more fun that way, opening and closing at your will.

Once I installed the M2W on my Vette it was like a different car. I love the sound with it open all the time. It does gurgle when you let off some others do not like this but I love it. I think the NPP with the M2W is a great set-up.

I believe I've heard the GHLs at shows. The reason I like the NPP is it can be quiet at times. I'm not one who likes loud noises in my house from outside. I try not to inflict it on my neighbors also.
If I had the Mild/wild switch I don't think it'd be open/on most of the time. But it would be nice to have at times so that I don't have to bring it up over 3K rpms to get "the sound." Maybe I'll get it, and maybe not....I'm ok the way it is.
And yes, I'd recommend it, but as said elsewhere sound is a very subjective like or dislike. After all, some people can't even hear drone!

It's has a reasonbale loudness to it but not too bad. You can hold a conversation in the car with the NPP open. However, with M2W I can push a button and close them while on the highway and it gets very quite with no drone. Great for talking or listening to my wife.

First let me say I have the NPP option with the M2W controller wired for minimum battery drain. Mine are wide open most of the time and on a recent road trip through the Canadian Rockies I silenced the mufflers so my wife could use her cell phone. A few minutes later she said turn the mufflers back on, I like the sound. I glad we spent the money.

Thanks for the replies!!
Is there anyone that has had the GHL and now has NPP that could give me their comparison.
I was just wondering whether I should get the NPP, or get a car without and install my GHL's on it?
Thanks

I had a C5 with the GHL magnums, 6 inch cans. I now have an 08 with the NPP. I leave the valves open all the time. To me, the NPP with the valves open is a tad bit louder than the GHL's at normal speeds and has more popping on deceleration (sp?). At wide open throttle, I think the NPP is quite a bit louder than the GHL's. Also, there is a slight drone with the NPP when accelerating in high gear at low RPM's but nothing intolerable. The NPP is pretty quiet with the valves closed.

If you're married, NPP makes lot of sense
My/our wives have a tendancy to want things a bit quieter, especially on long trips. It's great to be able to quiet the NPP when necessary.

NPP with the M2W switch open 100% of the time. The sound is incredible! Sounds like a big muscle car from the 60's! The sound is a REAL head turner, especially the popping on decel! I HIGHLY recommend it!!!!!

Ed's polishing kit comes with the mushroom buff to attach to your drill, you don't need anything else. You will get the best results using a high speed drill that uses AC. Cordless drills usually do not turn fast enough, or last long enough to create the proper heat to polish the metal well. I use a 2500rpm Makita and the tips shine like mirrors.
