This type of thread really gets to me. Let's talk facts and understand "resale value".

First, resale value is NOT what a dealer offers you on a trade. When you trade a car, you are paying the dealer to carry it in his inventory, and for his sales team to sell the car for you. What they sell the car to a retail customer for is the cars resale value.

To those who think the car has poor resale value right now, think again. I was offered 74% of my cars original MSRP as a trade (today). Yes, my dealer gives me "all" the money for my car, but he is still going to sell it (or wholesale it) and someone still has to make a profit on it.

I have no doubt that living in Houston is helping right now, but even factoring location, I think it's holding up quite well.

Thats how.

Question: "How did you learn about us?"

Answer: I'm a member of the Corvette Forum and I have an '05, '06, '07, '08 I want to trade in on one of your new ones."

Or "I see on the Corvette Forum where you are advertising new C6s for thus and so. I have one I want to trade in for one of your new ones."

Engine mods???? You don't have to crack open the engine to screw up a C6.

You aren't counting all of the tunes, excuse me, "toons", the poor filtering aftermarket cold air intakes, the 4000 rpm clutch dumps on drag radials, bolt on superchargers, nitrous kits,(which may have been removed prior to trade in to one of these internet dealers) the cars with headers which won't pass emissions, or which had the headers taken off, but the tune left behind with the rear 02s off and still won't pass emissions, the cars with line pressures turned up in tunes to "improve" shifting, and other "detrimental" stuff, which goes on in here right?

You have not heard of automatic transmissions biting the dust in less than 10K miles in here from too much drag racing, right?.

Conti and others know what time it is. They are not about to be stuck with one of those cars when they can sell a new one and make the same, if not more money, and without the headache, AND increase their allocation for next year's model.

You are absolutely correct but the least they can do is tell the potental customer they are not interested instead of stringing them along.

Superior Chevy here in KC offered me $38,500 for mine. It's got 97xx on the clock, tint, honker, and dyno. I had it bid at Aristocrat Motors (our local exotic superstore) and they bid $34,500. Supposedly that is what they're worth according to Manheim reports. At least, that is what they told me. What confused me was the disparity in price. I even asked my Chevy dealer if it was real money or not. Meaning, if I just wanted to sell it and walk out the door would they still give me the $38.5....they said yes.
