I've read a couple threads in the last few days about people "not wanting to use" the invisicord. Is there a legit reason for this? To me it seems like the perfect install...I have one. Why wouldn't someone want "less wiring" and a "neat and clean" install?
If you do a search you'll probably run across a post that discribed a situation where the cord fell out of the plug which could be a disaster because that means the dectector is not working.
Simple fix . . . tie the invisacord to the wire bundle running to the plug in back of the rear view mirror with a zip tie.
It's not difficult to run wires down to the passenger fuse box and when you do you have more circuits to pick from. I like the "HTD SEAT/WPR RLY" circuit which is only energized when the ignition is on:
I prefer to have my V1 located in the lower left corner of my windshield. It works just fine there; I've been using that spot for years, and it's not where Leo or thieves would normally look. From outside it is hiding behind the state inspection sticker. I have a piece of black felt glued to the top that further disguises it. When I park some place, say at a hotel at night, I just throw folded up map over it. So for that location, the Invisacord is not the best solution, and would have to be four feet long. I wired mine today with info received on this forum: (use the heated seat fuse) snaked the wire behind the console, under the drivers dash, tucked it along the side of the dash up to the lower left corner of the windshield. Totally invisable.
The ISRVM/HVAC fuse which is a 10 amp fuse protects the mirror circuit. And yes its a way bigger fuse than required, but the fuse is not to protect the detector, but rather protect the car's electrical supply.
The Invisicord is a total crap item. The two spade terminals that they put on there won't stay connected inside the back terminals of the mirror whatsoever. I had to modify it to get it working properly.

The Invisacord if hooked up according to the supplied directions is only powered up when ignition is on also. And with the visor clip I dont even think about the V1 until the lights go off. Its idiot proof.

Sounds like you didn't get them in right. I agree it seems a little cheap, but I installed mine about a year ago and never lost contact once...not even momentarily!

I tried it every which way possible and the connections sucked.

Well, really....just because you have had problems doesn't mean it sucks, I think MOST people have had no problems with the connection. I didn't even tie wrap mine and it has never come out.....go figure.

Just cause it has worked for others doesn't mean it's great either.

Where did you get that fuse thing, what is it called?
