I have tried many times to burn CD's with ID3 v1 data (Title & Artist) but the tag data does not appear on the screen of my 2008 with CD/NAV radio. Could the "RDS" "push button" have something to do with this problem? I don't see the answer in my owners manual.

I had trouble as well, but finally got it. I used Itunes, had to change to 1.0 or 1.1 (don't recall), and keep tiles under about 22 characters, including spaces.

The link is:http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...70&forum_id=74.

I used Itunes (free download www.apple.com/itunes/ download), changed all files names to less than 22 characters (even though it says less than 32, it won't play or show if it's over 22), and after selecting songs to burn, "before burning the CD - I selected ALL the songs in the project, then RIGHT CLICK, then CONVERT ID tags and selected Version 1.0."

Based on my limited knowledge, that seemed to do the trick.

All in all, I wasted 5-6 disks getting them the way I wanted. Also, I used Imation RW disks, but some guys think the disk brand may be part of the problem. Personally, I don't think it makes a difference. It closes the disk once it burns, and can't be re-used, at least for mp3.

If you want separate "folders" for each album, there is a box under Edit-Preferences-Advanced that says "Keep Itunes Music folder organized." Check that, and it should give album and artist info by album. In the car, hit Select Tracks and it brings up another menu.

I'm not an Apple fan, but since it worked for someone (tjfontaine, I think), I followed his instructions to the letter. Itunes is a little confusing to me, but it converts a lot of stuff into mp3 files. It all goes into the music library, and then you have to make a playlist from the library. It's the playlist that you burn. You can change or modify song titles from either screen, but changing them before you import with Itunes didn't seem to work (if you already have on computer as .wma files). I think it's better to edit the names after they are in Itunes. Also, special characters don't do well. Get rid of "", ', -, and anything else you can find. Spaces count in the 22 character limit as well.

I made 3 disk so far, 2 albums on 1, 3 on two others. All songs show, and all play. Also, the HUD tells you what "folder" (just the number), and what track (again, just the number) when it changes. Also, when one album finishes, it goes to the next one automatically.

RW discs can always be re-used, just erase them and they are like new. No need to waste discs. and I can't see how the RDS could have anything to do with it.

I just recently decided to try out the MP3 CD thing and for some reason only about half of the folders are accessible. The rest all just say "No MP3 Data" which is extremely frustrating.

File/folder names too long. 25 + ".mp3" is the limit no matter what the manual says.

I believe ITunes always wants to change the ID3 tags to version 2.2 or higher. ITunes also keeps its own copies of files so you can inspect and correct files on your hard disk to your heart's content and ITunes will go find an original unaltered copy when you tell it to burn a disc. ID3TagIt lets you see and modify ID3 tags in all versions. http://id3-tagit.pluemper.name/ With ID3TagIt you can put in one of the "bad" discs you have created and see what tags it has. I'd bet you have no version 1.0 or 1.1 tags.

RDS has nothing to do with playing any type of CDs. It looks for radio stations broadcasting traffic information. See the manual (mine is page 89).

OK. I used Fort Morgan Al's ideas: ITunes also keeps its own copies of files so you can inspect and correct files on your hard disk to your heart's content and ITunes will go find an original unaltered copy when you tell it to burn a disc. ID3TagIt lets you see and modify ID3 tags in all versions. http://id3-tagit.pluemper.name/ . The onluy problem is that I could not find how to order the MP3 files the way I would like.

You were using Nero before which, IMHO, is the best program. To set the order I just add a number at the start of the file name and then sort by file name by clicking on that column before burning. I also tend to want them sorted by track number on the album and ID3TagIt allows you to create filenames from the information in the tags so you can use "<K>-<T>" to get track and title in the name. Then use A.F.5 to trim to the 25 character limit if needed.

I don't mean to highjack the thread... I am new to the forum... I have the Nav/Stereo 6CD changer. Will WMA files work on this unit? I have seen some threads say yes, and others no.
Thanks

My understanding is that only MP3 files are readable by the stereo....

And the thread is 9 months old, so no worry about hijacking...
