CD Playback

I used Itunes (free download www.apple.com/itunes/ download), changed all files names to less than 22 characters (even though it says less than 32, it won't play or show if it's over 22), and after selecting songs to burn, "before burning the CD - I selected ALL the songs in the project, then RIGHT CLICK, then CONVERT ID tags and selected Version 1.0."
Based on my limited knowledge, that seemed to do the trick.
All in all, I wasted 5-6 disks getting them the way I wanted. Also, I used Imation RW disks, but some guys think the disk brand may be part of the problem. Personally, I don't think it makes a difference. It closes the disk once it burns, and can't be re-used, at least for mp3.
If you want separate "folders" for each album, there is a box under Edit-Preferences-Advanced that says "Keep Itunes Music folder organized." Check that, and it should give album and artist info by album. In the car, hit Select Tracks and it brings up another menu.
I'm not an Apple fan, but since it worked for someone (tjfontaine, I think), I followed his instructions to the letter. Itunes is a little confusing to me, but it converts a lot of stuff into mp3 files. It all goes into the music library, and then you have to make a playlist from the library. It's the playlist that you burn. You can change or modify song titles from either screen, but changing them before you import with Itunes didn't seem to work (if you already have on computer as .wma files). I think it's better to edit the names after they are in Itunes. Also, special characters don't do well. Get rid of "", ', -, and anything else you can find. Spaces count in the 22 character limit as well.
I made 3 disk so far, 2 albums on 1, 3 on two others. All songs show, and all play. Also, the HUD tells you what "folder" (just the number), and what track (again, just the number) when it changes. Also, when one album finishes, it goes to the next one automatically.

RDS has nothing to do with playing any type of CDs. It looks for radio stations broadcasting traffic information. See the manual (mine is page 89).
