Default Should I do it?

OK guys, here is the deal. The guys at the dealer offered me a black coupe with the z51 package for $16,817 plus tax, tag & dealer fees and my 06 C6. They are offering 0% financing but they wont offer the difference in cash.... I did not think I'd like the black car too much, but looking at it through the window, it does look very good... The ride of the '08s is phenomenal. I cannot believe how much smoother it rode over the speed breakers until I drove back over them with my car... Anyway, I could basically get that new '08 for about $380 per month. Brand new with a new warranty (I have nearly 36K miles in mine), 30 more horses and the Z51 package is pretty tempting...... Oh yeah, they will let me keep my chromies and switch to the new tires....

Not enough info, the 2008 coupe has ONLY Z51? What does the 2006 have? Ask to see the invoice on the 2008, what's the GMS price? You have two different deals going when you trade in, need more info.

06 is basic car with aftermarket Alpine/GPS clear roof. According to Edmunds, invoice of the '08 is $45,030 They are basically offering $28K for my '06... They are discounting the '08 by $4,500

I would say take it even if yours is a 3LT and theirs is a 1LT. It is worth it especially since they are letting you keep the chrome wheels. You might be able to find a little bit better deal elsewhere, but if they are local, it would be worth it.

Tim's probably right; I think you're getting maybe a little less than you could on your car, but you'll look long and hard to get more for it.

As to the deal itself, that one item "dealer fees," is the one that gets me. Tax, tags, license, fine.

As the final bottom line, tell them zero dealer fees, unless it's $25 which is not worth fighting over.

Hey Tim, help this guy out, assuming the 2006 is in great shape, with good tires, what would you offer in trade? I think the Alpine is a deduct, KBB is $24,000 - $27,000 trade, fair to good, dealers usually offer $3000 or so in back of book to be safe, so they are offering good money for your trade, I think.

I know it's just me but I can't imagine giving up Monterey Red for Black. Unless there are more negatives to your car than your saying, I wouldn't do it for Black but that's just me. I say this with lots of love for Black, I just got rid of a Black F-Body and a Black Mercedes and I'll never get another. I spent all my free time Zainoing both of them and they still only looked great for an hour or so.

Yeah, the dealer fees are too high...They want $1.121.91 in fees. Sounds a bit high to me... At $16,817 with the sales tax (7%) should be no more than $16,994.... They basically want $18,442 That's $447. The tag is about $40

I don't like black either and the lack of NPP would kill the deal for me.

Yeah, I saw those on line... The only thing is that their MSRP is quite a bit higher than the ones at Hendricks. Another dealer sent me a quote at $44K for a coupe w/ A6, but I want the manual... Maxie Price has 200 verts in stock, maybe they'll go for a better deal. Anyway, I'll definitely shop around a little more. I don't want to pay $2K more than I have to. My car is basically fine. The only thing I don't like is that the warranty is about over and the Z51 is a more desireable package for me. Still, thanks guys for your comments, I wiil look for more options in color and price.

Oh, I love the Monty red. But I don't want to buy a new car that looks just like my old one... I thought that the black looked better after I test drove a blue one.... The Silver is appealing, but I'm not sold although I had 2 silver EVO 8's. That's what keeps me from repeating the color, I never could quite feel that my second EVO was really a "new" car

I'm on my 2nd "Red" and contemplating my 3rd. You have heard that, "All Corvettes are red, the rest are mistakes". Black looks great for about 5 minutes. Good luck with your choice.

Go for it, and go for the black. Red is so predictable (and I also own a red Vette, red Silverado, and red Tahoe). I love my classic gorgeous black. The maintenance is not nearly as bad as most people claim (if you are not OC). The beauty of a newly cleaned and detailed black Vette is something to behold and makes other colors pale in comparison. JMHO....and nowadays I do tend to go the safe route on color.
